Pat's obituary

James Patrick Murphy "Pat", 79, of Devine, Texas, passed away on October 19th after a difficult battle with Parkinson's disease. Pat was born on June 26, 1942, in El Paso, Texas to James R. Murphy and Joyce Murphy.  Pat's passions were hunting, ranching, cooking, and watching western movies. He also loved country-western music and was a devoted fan of Garth Brooks.  Always a fan of NFL football, his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. He loved the Texas hill country but was in heaven when visiting the mountains of New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah.  Pat was crazy about the dogs that he had over the years, Chelsea, Cassie, Chulo, Major, and Sugar.  He enjoyed being outdoors. Growing up, he spent a lot of time with his granddad who taught him how to hunt and fish.  Pat met his wife Joan McCall in high school. They married and went on to have four sons.  Pat made a career out of ranching and farming in his early years and then later became a restauranteur for over 18 years. He spent most of his retirement living in the Texas hill country where he could be closer to his sons. Pat is preceded in death by his parents and leaves behind his wives Joan Murphy of Raleigh, North Carolina and Alicia Murphy of Plainview, his brother Jack C. Murphy of Falfurrias, four sons Chuck (Karey) Murphy of Boerne, Clint Murphy of San Antonio, Casey (Stephanie) Murphy of San Antonio and Chris (Javier) Murphy of Austin, seven grandchildren Alexandria Murphy of Lytle, Hunter Murphy of Lubbock, Bradley Murphy of San Antonio, Joycelyn Covarrubia of San Antonio, Tanner Murphy of San Antonio, Seth Murphy of San Antonio, and Kira Murphy of San Antonio, three great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law Buck McCall and Ray McCall, sister-in-law Vicky McCall, a nephew Luke McCall and three nieces, Tesha McCall, Stormy Davis and Bonnie McCall.
