James's obituary

James Junior “Jimmy” Pace is a native of Memphis, Tennessee. In his youth, he moved to the New Orleans and West Bank areas of Louisiana. He graduated high school with V.I.P. Sports status at Holy Name of Mary in Algiers, Louisiana. He proudly, but humbly served his country in the Marine Corps, of The United States of America, decorated and honorably discharged. Dressed in his military uniform, he married Jacqueline Michel Pace, August 8th, 1959, until her death, January 28th, 1994. They resided together in the Harvey and Bridge City areas of Louisiana, where he was a very devoted husband and father. Together they raised six children. He worked most of his years as a multi-talented welder at the Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Plant in Chalmette, Louisiana, and lastly, Jefferson Parish Waterworks. He respectively retired from both. He then married, July 11th, 1996, to his second wife, Sondra Cullen Pace, until his untimely death on Sunday, March 11th, 2018, after complications from pneumonia. He was seventy-nine years old. During those last twenty-one plus years with Sondra, he resided in Metairie, Louisiana, Destin, Florida, and finally settled in Gonzales, Louisiana. Jimmy was an avid sports fan who especially enjoyed watching the Saints and LSU play. He also liked to dance, sing karaoke, and spend time with his family and friends. While living in Destin, Florida, Jimmy belonged to the American Legion and Parrot Head Clubs. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Sondra Cullen Pace; Children: Cindy Marie Pace Tuck, and husband, Barry, Connie Pace, James “Ray” Pace, and wife, Kristen, David W. Pace, Steven Thomas Pace, Robert J. Pace, and wife, Sandra; Stepchildren: Susan Ledet, and husband, Donald, Angela Bacon, and husband, Jim, Mona Lisa Barnett, and husband, C.B.; Grandchildren: Joshua Vincent Toups, and wife, Robyn, Jodie-Lynn “Josie” Buras, Shane Buras, Rosa Michel Pace, David Pace, Jr., Logan Pace; Great Grandchildren: Angelina “Luna” Stutsman, Vincent Lee “Vinny” Von Aderholt, Joshua Vincent Toups, Jr.; and numerous other Step Grandchildren, Great, and Great, Great Step Grandchildren; Sisters: Carol Ann Schrimsher, and husband, Jerry, Linda “Kay” Hart, and husband, Ron; Brother: Carl Bunn, and wife, Vicky; Sisters-in-law: Rita Bunn, Lou “Grace” Michel Cantrelle, and husband, Nelson, Jr.; Brother-in-law: Louis Pflueger. Jimmy is preceded in death by his first wife, Jacqueline Michel Pace; His Parents: James Orbit Pace, and Thelma Pace Bunn; Stepfather: Paul Bunn; Father and Mother-in-law: Thomas "Slim" Michel, and Rosa Savona Michel; Sister: Mary Kathryn Pace Pflueger; Brother: Paul “Butch” Bunn; Brother-in-law: Carlo Michel, and wife, Dianne; and three more Stepchildren. The family would like to give a special thanks to all the doctors and staff of, Our Lady of The Lake, Baton Rouge General, and Saint Elizabeth Hospitals, for their compassion and care. The family would also like to thank all family, friends, and neighbors, who stood by his side and helped him in his time of need.
A celebration of Jimmy’s life, and gathering for Jimmy’s family and friends, will be held at, Visitation of Our Lady Church, on Saturday, April 28th, 2018. (Address: 3500 Ames Boulevard Marrero, LA 70072). Visitation/Family & Friend Gathering will begin at 11:00 am in the church. At 12:45 pm, a Video Picture Story Eulogy, made by Jimmy’s son, Robert J. Pace, will be shown. Mass will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by a procession to the graveyard for burial. Once at the graveyard site, there will be a Full Military Honors Salute Ceremony, in the honor of Jimmy’s service as a Marine, in the USMC.
