We met in law school. We connected because my maternal grandfather was named Peter Loughlin. We lost touch after school but I was so moved by the wonderful obituary that I had to reach out and express my condolences.

This is a wonderful memory for me. The lady coming in the door was my Great Aunt, Doreen Heath. She worked for Mr. O'Loughlin for a number of years at the Heights. This was taken when Mr. O'Loughlin surprised her with an 80th birthday celebration in the law library. My family was invited to share in the celebration. Her sister, my mother, was unable to attend due to a broken hip but myself, Glenna Greene, and her great niece, Molly Greene, and great nephew, Matt Dunseith were all in attendance. There was some great food and drinks provided. Mr. O'Loughlin and the department gave her a StL Cardinals jacket, a reserved parking sign and four tickets to an upcoming Cardinal game. She was a big fan! It was so thoughtful and generous of him. He truly cared for her as a person and an employee. It was a wonderful day that we will always remember! We all enjoyed the game the next summer. The seats were on the first row right behind the Cardinal dugout. Doreen was in baseball heaven. They even wished her Happy Birthday on the big scoreboard. I have a number of other memories of Mr. O'Loughlin including seeing him at the soccer field were my son and daughter played and band concerts. He even got me backstage to see Foreigner at one of the Orscheln Fall Parties. I am sad that I will not see him again on this earth , but I hope that he and Doreen have had a chance to catch up in heaven. I have five or six more great pictures that I would love to share to your email address if you would like to send it to me. This website only allows for one photo. Sincerely, Glenna Greene

Brother O’Loughlin always holds a special place in my heart for his kindness and service. He did my adoption and even ran across the street to get a disposable camera for me to capture a picture that day. Sending prayers and love to your family.

I’m so grateful I got the chance to know Grandpa Jim, he was truly the kindest person I’d ever met. I loved hearing all the fun stories Robbie would tell me about the times he’d spend in the summer down at the house. It made me so happy when Grandpa Jim gave me a hug before leaving to head home, he had whispered “I love you” into my ear. It made me smile so much. Every time after that I’d let Grandpa Jim know that I loved him. Grandma Lee and him are so kind hearted and loving, I love them both very dearly❤️
Jim, and his wonderful wife, Lee , have always been the most kind and gracious folks to me and to my family. I remember the first time I met them. It was at Bryan and Christin’s wedding in the Washington DC Temple. I was so impressed by their wonderful family. All those boys. That says a great deal about these two as to the type of parents and example they were and are. Those boys, men now, are all handsome, generous, loving and giving. They learned that from their parents. I am forever grateful that I have been a part of this marvelous family. I love you all. My prayers are with you all. Thank you for sharing your family with me.
Beautiful obituary. How wonderful the Hasek family was able to know this wonderful man. I will never forget his smile. My heart and prayers are with you all.
So sorry for your loss.
Brother O’Loughlin was a great man and always so kind and welcoming. He was so kind to me when I first visited the Moberly Ward. The O’Loughlin family has always been kind and lovely to me and my family.

Knowing Jim and Lee for all these years has been a blessing for me and my family. We met in 1976 while both of our families lived in Hidden Hills, California. We and the “Ole’s” had young and growing families and we literally did hundreds of things together over the years. We lived close to them in Hidden Hills and then again in Moberly.
I have never known better people than Jim and Lee. The love and care they had for each other always showed. We loved to be around them whatever we were doing.
All my love to the O’Loughlin family.

Like my sister Deanna stated, we have lots of memories growing up with the O’Loughlin family. In my high school years in Moberly, I’d go to their house on some Sunday evenings. It seems like there was always a giant bowl of popcorn. He always made me feel welcome and made it a point to ask how I was doing. My high school years were a bit hard at times, so that was really important to me. I remember “Uncle Jim” giving sincere and heartfelt family prayers that were also long:) I also remember Jim teaching us that the lyrics of the song “I am a Child of God” changed from “teach me all that I must KNOW” to “teach me all that I must DO, to live with Him someday.” We had a neat discussion about that change of lyrics and what that meant to us. Jim really was a “doer” of God’s word. I will cherish the memories.
While he was Bishop, I was a new member and didn’t have any family in the church. I remember like it was yesterday, while in a meeting he looked at me and asked: would you like a Priesthood blessing? Being the only member in my family and not having anyone with the Priesthood to give me a blessing, this small act of giving me blessing forever changed my life. It started a desire in me to serve a mission. He was instrumental in helping me realize the desire in my heart of serving Jesus Christ. I then went on to serve a mission in the Brazil Fortaleza Mission. He was a great man and will forever be part of my story.
One of my best memories of Jim was on a “take your son to work day”. My dad was living in Ohio at the time, and Jim took me with him. He took me to lunch that day too, and we had a really nice time. He always had a kind heart.

We love the O’loughlin family, and we send our condolences.

Jim has always been a treasure to those around him, listening to promptings & serving others in exactly the way they needed.
I will never forget when my husband was underemployed & we were struggling to get by. Cody asked our Bishop, which happened to be one of Jim's sons, if he knew of anyone who might need any odd jobs done. He said he would keep an eye open. Literally, 20 minutes later, Jim found him in the hallway & asked if he could do some tree trimming & removal. Cody asked if his son had told him that he was looking for work & his response was "No... I haven't talked to him. I was thinking about the job I needed done & you were the one that came to mind." It ended up providing exactly what we needed at the time & we are still grateful!
Jim & Lee are the people we most aspire to be like. Always mindful of others & their needs, & always in tune with the Spirit to hear promptings' follow them. We have so much love and appreciation this wonderful man!

I had the privilege of serving as the ward secretary when he was the bishop of the singles ward in Columbia, Missouri. I remember one day in December that we were to have a bishopric meeting and the weather was extremely horrible and the roads were not ones we wanted to drive on. I lived in Moberly and so he called me up and asked me to come to his office for the meeting and I did. When I got there we called his other two counselors and had Bishopric meeting via a conference call. I remember very vividly during that meeting the concern that he had for every single young adult and making sure that they were taken care of for the Christmas holiday that was a few weeks away. He has such a great love for every individual single adult and cared about them as if they were part of his own family.
I also remember him giving me a call one night and asking me if I would accept the invitation to come and have dinner with his family one evening. I was delighted and honored that he offered me to have dinner with his family. When I went to dinner that night we had a great conversation around the dinner table and as I left there I remember the feelings I felt for the love that he had for every individual of his family and the love of the Gospel that he had for everyone member non-member he came in contact with.
In July of 2005 I moved to Columbus Ohio because I was relocating due to a promotion at work. I remember getting a call one day from him while I was in Ohio sayimg Brett is there any way that Swift would haul loads for Orschelin because we really need a dedicated reputable company to do that for us. I made several phone calls within our company to try and get this done how ever being such a big company it wasn't as easy as I had hoped to be able to pull off for him. I called him back and let him know and he was just appreciative of me giving it a a good effort and trying to make it happen. These are just a few of the stories that I so vividly remember about Jim. God be with you till we meet again my good friend.
