Jim's obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of James David Nygren on the morning of March 12th, 2023.

Jim was born in Cross Plains, WI on April 20th, 1961. During his life he brought his two children into this world, they were the greatest joys of his life. He also worked for 39 years at Placon Corporation as a lead maintenance technician. He was one of their most loyal employees. Jim also spent many years pulling tug-o-war, arm wrestling, swimming, and hunting. He retired at the age of 58.

After he retired he bought and flipped a house in Edgerton, WI, something he intended to spend most of his retirement doing. If he wasn’t working on fixing something or planning his next investment, he could be found hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, playing cards, and spending time with his daughters. Everyone who met Jim was immediately touched by his big heart and contagious smile.

Jim is preceded in death by his grandparents David and Pauline Zwolanek, his parents Jean and Douglas Nygren, uncle David Zwolanek Jr, and his brother Robert. He is survived by his children Courtney Nygren, Cierra Nygren, and Ben(Lacey) Hahn and his grandchild Wyatt Hahn. His former wife and mother of his children Christine Nygren. His sisters Tina(Robert) Topp, Lori(Bill) Wassing and his niece Beth(Travis) Schroeder and his nephews Kevin Topp and Brandon Wassing.

A memorial service will be held at Blackhawk Church-Brader Way on March 24th from 1-3 pm. A tribute to his life will take place right at 1:00pm in the Fireside room at Blackhawk.
