Tribute to OUR SUPERHERO

Thank you all for being here today to celebrate the life of my brother, James “TIM”. As I

write this, I am filled with a mix of emotions—sadness and disappointment for the loss,

joy for the countless memories we shared, and sheer PRIDE in the fact that he was an

AMAZING son, brother, husband, and father to his family.

To his younger siblings, he was nothing short of a real-life superhero. We were SO

proud to call him our big brother. He was always the most handsome, coolest, strongest

person to to me. I would have NO PROBLEM fighting anyone about my brother, luckily, I

didn’t have to. He was my protector, my confidant, and my biggest cheerleader. Tim

was the strong, silent type. He minded his own business but spoke up when it was

necessary. He didn’t participate in drama or confusion and he EASILY separated

himself from it.

He loved to laugh, and had a sarcastic sense of humor. We all looked forward to

coming home on holidays to watch movies, eat our favorite foods, and laugh together

…often at the most unexpected and inappropriate times.

But beyond the jokes and the laughter, Tim had a heart of gold. He was KIND,

COMPASSIONATE, and EMPATHETIC to others. He was always there when you

needed him, whether it was to lend a hand, offer advice, or just share a quiet moment.

At home, he loved sitting on the lanai listening to music or watching it rain. Away from

home, the beach was his personal HAPPY PLACE, and we enjoyed many early

mornings and late evenings enjoying both. I will cherish those memories forever.

One of my favorite memories is when we went on a road trip together to Louisiana for a

college visit. We rode for hours listening to some of our favorite music. Tim turned it into

an adventure, stopping along the way looking for ALLIGATORS! He’d say, “we’re just

taking the scenic route.” And that was his approach to life—always finding the beauty in

every situation, no matter how challenging. His strength and kindness were my guiding

lights.

He and LaShanda, were perfectly made for each other. They were, and still are, my

favorite couple. My daughters call them “RELATIONSHIP GOALS,” and I am my

daughters were able to witness their love story. When the two of them created my

nephew, JT, they created the perfect combination of the best parts of themselves.

Tim had been telling me that I will have a new son, but there is no way I could fill the

shoes of his most awesome parents. However, there is also no way I’m going to do

anything less than what he asked of me. I will continue to be a positive presence and

major spoiler for JT. Tim made sure he said everything he needed to. His main wish,

even up to his last hours, was that LaShanda and I remain sisters. That wasn’t even

questionable. LaShanda is stuck with me…with us, the Miller family, for the rest of her

life!

Personally, I feel like we are war buddies. We fought side by side with him during major

combat, and she was as strong as steel! She lifted his spirits, held his hand, and most

importantly, prayed with and over him every single day. For that, I am…we are eternally

grateful, and definitely sisters for life. So congratulations, LaShanda Miller, you have a

twin, but now we are triplets!

Today, as we remember Tim let’s celebrate the joy he brought into our lives. Let’s

remember his laughter, his kindness, and his unwavering spirit. He may no longer be

with us in person, but his memory will live on in our hearts forever.

Thank you, Tim for being the best big brother anyone could ask for. We love you, we

miss you, and we will never forget you. A couple of weeks ago you mentioned that you

wanted Grandma to come to you in a dream, but I KNOW she was waiting for you with

open arms to welcome you into Heaven! Kiss her for me! I love you!

Treva

Tim was a great friend who loved deeply. He couldn't say enough about how much he enjoyed being a father. He really thought he had more time and I wish that had been true. Rest well my friend. And my deepest condolences to the entire family

James  was an amazing  man.  He will forever  live with his point blank accurate  statements and his intellectual funny humor!  I'm  so grateful I  got to know him!

Dear LaShanda and Treva,

Although I never had the pleasure of meeting James, working with you both and hearing the stories you've shared has given me a glimpse of the brave, strong, and caring man he was. My deepest thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

LaShanda, I will be praying for you and your family. It breaks my heart for you.  Your ORAU family loves you.  Kaye
