Jim's obituary

James McCauley passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024, at the age of 77. Born in Seattle, WA, Jim was a cherished husband, father, friend, teacher, and coach.

He spent his formative years in Washington before embarking on a well-traveled life as a high school teacher and coach in the European Department of Defense schools. Jim taught auto and wood shop, social studies, and more. He passionately coached soccer, golf, and basketball, among other sports. His career started in London, England, before taking him to Bad Kreuznach, Augsburg, and Heidelberg, Germany, where he spent most of his life. His kind, welcoming and humorous personality led to many lasting friendships throughout his life. Jim was known for his dedication to his family and friends as well as his students. He found pleasure playing with his grandchildren, golfing, skiing, gardening, playing canasta, and always enjoyed ice cream.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Johanna, their daughter Justine and her husband Alex with Annalena and Nora, their son Jason and his wife Kelly with Liam and Isaac, and his siblings Gary, Kathy and their families.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org)
