James's obituary

James Marsell McCauley peacefully passed away 8 November 2021 at the age of 84.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, and multiple children and grandchildren.

Born 1937 in Idaho Falls to Samuel James McCauley and Marcella Burell Goodwin, Jim lived his early childhood in Butte, MT where his father worked as a copper miner before relocating the family to California's San Diego area in 1943, leading Jim to grow up in Lakeside and La Mesa. After graduating from Grossmont high in El Cajon, he proudly served in the US Air Force where he fast pitched for the USAF softball team.

The Air Force trained Jim in computer navigation, and upon his discharge IBM accepted him to programming school. This led to a career in data processing in Orange County where he raised his family and helped his children keep up with modern computer technology. In retirement, he worked a variety of jobs including rural postal carrier, armed security guard, and legal and medical courier.

Jim had the gift of gab, was an excellent dancer, and enjoyed tennis, snow skiing and watching a good ball game. In his later years he enjoyed fishing, golfing and spending time in Salmon, ID.

He met his wife Barbara Donahoo in the 4th grade in Lakeside and reconnected with her in 1995 to marry.

Jim was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed serving where he could.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date with ashes to be scattered in Salmon, ID.
