James Kemper West, III graced the world with his presence on April 12, 1954, born to the late James Kemper West, Jr., and the late Viola Miller West. He shared a profound bond with his twin sister, the late Jane Kemperlyn West. James's enduring legacy is carried forward by his cherished daughters, Tamira West and Nichelle West, residing in Aurora, CO. He is further survived by his loving sisters: Jacqueline Suzanne West Mizell Rhodes of Winterville, NC, Vondelere West Reid (William) of Woodbridge, VA, and Brenda Gale West of Woodbridge, VA. Additionally, James leaves behind a precious legacy in the form of his grandchildren, Amaya Reed and Mariah Wright, as well as four nieces: Tonya Michelle Porter (Tracey) of St. John’s, FL, Andrea Dianne Autry (Adrian) of Syracuse, NY, Robyn Yvette Porcha (George) of Winterville, NC, and Heather Mizell of Landover, MD, alongside one great niece and three great nephews. His profound impact on the lives of his family and loved ones will endure for generations to come.

James Kemper West, III earned his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Bluefield State College, distinguishing himself academically and socially as a member of the esteemed Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Throughout his collegiate achievements, he committed himself to serving his country with honor and distinction, enlisting in the United States Air Force from 1972 to 1975. During his tenure, James applied his technical expertise as an Airplane Electrician, demonstrating unwavering dedication to his duties.

Upon completion of his military service, James embarked on a successful professional journey spanning over two decades. His tenure included pivotal management roles at Lucent Technology, where his leadership and ingenuity contributed significantly to the company's advancements in technological innovation. James's steadfast commitment to excellence and his profound understanding of electrical engineering principles were instrumental in shaping the trajectory of his career.

With a legacy marked by professionalism, expertise, and unwavering dedication, James Kemper West, III retired from Lucent Technology in 2001, leaving behind a lasting impact on the field of electrical engineering. In the latter years of his life, James Kemper West, III dedicated himself to nurturing familial bonds, fostering deep connections with his parents, and dutifully caring for his twin sister until their respective passings. Amidst these responsibilities, he ardently pursued his passion for music, finding solace and joy in playing the piano and expressing himself through song. Beyond his musical pursuits, James found fulfillment in the culinary arts, particularly relishing the art of cooking. He delighted in preparing his signature recipe for chitterlings, infusing each dish with care and flavor. Additionally, James imparted words of love and faith to his children, often reminding them with heartfelt sincerity, "Jesus loves you," instilling in them the values of compassion, empathy, and spiritual connection.

James Kemper West, III's presence will be deeply missed, yet his memory will forever remain etched in the hearts and minds of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may no longer walk among us, the legacy of his kindness, wisdom, and warmth will endure, serving as a beacon of light in moments of darkness.
