James (Jim)'s obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. James "Jim" Flynn, who left us on July 4th, 2023 in Macungie, PA. Born on June 16th, 1979, Jim carved a joyful and remarkable path through life, leaving an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.

Jim is survived by his children William and Joanna and his loving partner, Ali Lima. He also leaves behind his parents David and Theresa Pappal, his brothers Ryan Pappal and Scott Flynn, and his sister Christine O'Donnell, who will carry on his memory with great admiration and love.

A man of adventurous spirit and profound love for the outdoors, Jim savored life's simple pleasures. Whether he was hiking the Appalachian Trail, playing sports with his kids, spending time on the beach, fishing or hiking, Jim was his happiest when surrounded by nature. He shared his love for sports with his children, passing on his passion for the Eagles, Phillies and Penguins.

Jim was a natural born teacher, protector and caregiver. He spent the time he had with William and Joanna teaching them academics from an early age. He was passionate about his children's learning and growth from the moment they were born. From setting up a classroom in their house during covid to taking William and Joanna on adventures in the great outdoors, Jim leaves them with a legacy of learning that will help carry them through life. Jim taught William and Joanna to care for and protect one another just as he had always shown in his relationships with his family and friends.  His care for them exudes who Jim truly was, William and Joanna were everything to him. He was the epitome of a loving and caring father that always put his children first.

Jim shared the joy of building with William and Joanna by constructing a canoe from scratch with them. He had hoped to take them out in it one day.

Jim was a dedicated Army soldier, serving with distinction in Qatar during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He held a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Penn State, a Computer Technology degree also from Penn state and most recently earned his CDL license to become a long haul trucker. He loved learning and expanding on his knowledge base.

Despite his distinguished service and educational achievements, Jim's greatest legacy is one of love and dedication to his family, especially his children. Known for his outgoing nature, encouraging spirit, protective demeanor, and independent thinking, his wit and loyalty were unmatched. He was a strong believer in the power of love and friendship.

Jim's humor, warmth and dedication will truly be missed. We take solace in knowing that Jim's spirit lives on in his children, his family and his friends. He may not physically be with us anymore but he will forever live in our hearts. May God protect him and love him as we did here on earth, he will forever be thought of and remembered as the wonderful man he was. Until we meet again.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made towards an educational fund for his children, William and Joanna. Details can be found here: https://everloved.com/life-of…
