James M. Jakob, age 71, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025. He was born on April 29, 1953, the fifth of seven children to Fritz and Dolores Bridget (Caplis) Jakob.

Beloved husband of 51 years to Candace (Terry) Jakob, James was a devoted family man whose greatest joy was found at home. He was the proud father of Shannan (Ernie) and David Jakob, and the loving “Papa” to Ernest and Jakob, his grandsons who were the light of his life.

James dedicated 42 years of hard work to Great Lakes Steel before retiring. He was known for his strong work ethic, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for his family. His humor, kindness, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and his siblings, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who cherished him.

A private service will be held for the family, with a celebration of life to follow at a later date.

In honor of James, the family encourages you to spend time with your loved ones, play euchre or pinochle, share a story, and enjoy a laugh—just as he would have wanted.
