James Laverne Iler passed away on August 17th, 2022, at the age of 65.

​James was born in Lansing Michigan in 1957. After high school graduation he joined the U. S. Navy to see the world and loved every minute of it. When the military brought him to Southern California, he met his wife, Brandy. At the age of 37, while at home on leave he was injured and would remain a paraplegic for the remainder of his life.

​He enjoyed action and fantasy movies, all kinds of games, his pets and family. Mr. Iler has been a resident of Riverside for 20 years.

​He is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years Brandy Wood-Iler, stepson Dustin Bennett of Jurupa Valley, and two grandsons, Dylan, and Mason. Siblings, Mary Iler, Sheree Atkins, Harriet Iler, and Terry Iler of Michigan, and Janice Bennington of Norco California and many nieces and nephews. And is preceded in death by is father Melville Gordon Iler, mother Ellen Ida (Hath) Brabant, and siblings Margaret Small, Lynda Iler, Tom Iler, and Fannie Iler.

​James will be laid to rest with honors at Riverside National Cemetery on Wednesday August 31st, 2022, at 10:15am.

​His light-hearted juvenile nature made him a fun person despite his personal struggles in life, and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
