Jimmy's obituary

James Robert Huskin, 61, of Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at 5am on February 12th, 2022, from a ruptured brain aneurysm. Jimmy was born on January 7th, 1961, to Claude Fitzgerald Jr. (CF) and Lillian Jean Huskin (Jean) in Abilene, Texas, at Hendrick's Hospital. He was a star athlete at Abilene Christian High School and graduated in 1979 after receiving a scholarship to Abilene Christian University. He met the love of his life, Janet Maria Dods, in May of 1981. They were married on March 24, 1984, at Highland Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas.

Jimmy worked hard his whole life to provide for his beloved wife, Janet, their six children: Josh, his wife Steph, Jeremy, Jessica, her husband Kelen, Jake, his wife April, Jayden, and Jillian. He was a natural "Pappy" to his five grandchildren: Jasmine, Finley, Aubree, Jacob Jr, and Everett. He always had a big grin on his face when they were around. Anyone that met Jimmy, even briefly, knew that he was a deeply loving father, husband and brother, and have probably heard him say "C'mon!" and “Hook’em!” for his Texas Longhorns. He never hesitated in lending a helping hand, he loved people through actions, and had a gift for making vital connections with others. Just being in Jimmy’s presence made you feel welcome and comfortable. He was gentle, encouraging and forgiving. He was an avid deer hunter, loved being outdoors, and cherished the quiet moments sitting in a blind with his kids. He taught them how to hunt in addition to many more life lessons. Jimmy always said, "it will be bigger next year.”

Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, CF and Jean, in addition to his two brothers, Allen Huskin, and Carl Huskin and his wife Tammy Huskin. He is survived by his wife, six kids, two daughter-in-loves, one son-in-love, five grandchildren, his two sisters: Cindy Boyd and Debbie Huskin-Moot, along with one sister-in-love, Janice Huskin, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his father-in-love and mother-in-love, Glen and Gwen Dods, along with two brother-in-loves, Tim Dods, his wife Lenora, and Dan Dods, as well as a sister-in-love, Jacki Hathorn and her husband Howard. He married into an abundant family and was loved by all.

The Huskin family appreciates all the condolences and help that they have graciously received. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the memorial fund for medical expenses. There will be a celebration of life on Sunday, February 20th at 4:00pm at Nora Hall at 202 Cypress St in Abilene, Texas.
