Uncle Win / Jim's obituary

James Wendell Hocum went to be with his Savior on January 4, 2026. Born in Ramp, West Virginia, Wendell (Uncle Win / Jim) was a dearly loved son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many. He would conclude nearly every conversation with these words: "Jesus loves us all".

A long-term employee with Steelcase, he was never married. He appreciated the finer things in life, adored his family and pets. We remember his love for animals, especially his Pomeranian, Shatzi, and many kitties. He was also passionate about writing and listening to music, poetry and stories. In fact, one of his songs allowed him a trip to Nashville and chance to meet the legendary Marty Robbins.

He will be dearly missed by those closest to him, including: brother, Howard Eugene Hocum, dear friend, Bob Krebbs; devoted cousin, Gale Male and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Donald Hocum and Mary Etta (Cyrus) Hocum; brothers, Floyd Jesse Hocum (Peggy) and Harold Laverne Hocum (Barbara); sisters, Mary Elisabeth Barnard (Robert), Dorothy Ellen Barnard (Ronald), Margaret Emma Thompson (Harold) and Edith Karen Barnes (Douglas).

In lieu of flowers, if you're moved, please prayerfully consider donating to a minister of your choice who will share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

A celebration of life / family gathering is planned for the spring.
