James's obituary

James Henry Moore Jr., 40, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away surrounded by family on March 31, 2026, in Toledo, Ohio. He was born on August 6, 1985, in Chicago, Illinois.

James was a proud graduate of Thornwood High School and dedicated over seven years of service to RRP Packaging in Perrysburg, where he served as a Line Lead for the past three years. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment to his team. Even in the face of health challenges, James remained determined and continued to show up with resilience and purpose.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys Marie Dillard and James Henry Moore Sr.; his brother, Gerald “G-Man” Dillard; his grandmothers, Lorraine Dillard (“Grandma Doll”) and Mary Faulkner; his aunts, Rosie Crivens, Gladys Faulkner, and Janice Dillard; his uncle, Otis Moore; and his dear friend, Broderick of Calumet City, Illinois.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his sisters, Alfrieda, Lamonica, Lucy, and Jamie; his brothers, Joshua and Tim; his beloved nieces, Trinity and Justice; and his nephews, Armon, JayQuan, Jayvon, Jaydan, and Joshiah. He also leaves behind a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who held a special place in his heart.

James cherished deep and lasting friendships that became an essential part of his life. He shared a special bond with Brittney (Gloria) of Lynwood, Illinois, and Roger Tate of Calumet City, Illinois; friendships rooted in loyalty, laughter, and unwavering support. He also formed a meaningful connection with Lakara, lovingly known as “LA,” of Oxford, Mississippi, who became like a sister to him, as well as a loving and supportive relationship with Shayla of Shelby, North Carolina. These relationships were a true reflection of the love and connection James carried throughout his life.

James had a passion for music, helping others, watching and talking about sports, movies, working with his hands, gardening, and cooking. His sense of humor was infectious, and his smile could light up any room. He was loyal, genuine, compassionate, and generous; a natural protector who always showed up for the people he loved.

James will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the legacy he leaves behind.
