James's obituary
In Loving Memory of James H. Hayman
Jim Hayman, age 50, of Westerville, Ohio—formerly of Columbus—passed away on the evening of October 8, 2025, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. With unwavering strength and his beloved fiancée, Katie, by his side, Jim faced his illness with grace and determination.
Jim was a fun-loving adventurer known for his silly nature, infectious laugh, and endless enthusiasm. A devoted fan of the Carolina Panthers and the Ohio State Buckeyes, Jim also had a deep passion for Star Wars, watching the entire saga more times than anyone could count. He had a fascination with all things paranormal, often enjoying ghost-hunting shows cuddled up in bed with Katie and his daughters.
He had a major sweet tooth—especially for anything peanut butter—and his favorite treat was a homemade chocolate peanut butter brownie, lovingly baked by Katie and their daughter Adilyn. When it came to meals, nothing beat a medium-rare filet mignon with a baked potato topped with mustard and sour cream—yes, mustard! A close second was his go-to comfort food: a meatball sub.
Professionally, Jim took pride in his work as a member of Local Union 24 in Columbus, where he worked in sheet metal. It was a challenging and often dangerous job, but one he was proud to do.
Jim is survived by the love of his life and partner of nine years, Katie Sullivan; their cherished daughter, Adilyn Hayman; his daughters Abigail and Kaylee Hayman, whom he shared with his former wife Kathy; and his son Bailey Hayman, shared with his former wife Deb. He also leaves behind Milo Hayman, a sweet little parakeet he gave to Katie so she’d have someone to talk to in his absence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Elaine Hayman, and his grandmother, Lucy Hayman.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Beth and Kevin Inlow, who welcomed Jim into their home for the final eight weeks of his life, honoring his wish not to pass in the home he shared with his family. Their kindness, compassion, and care will never be forgotten.
A private Celebration of Life will be held to honor Jim with those who loved and cared for him over the past nine years. For details, please reach out to Katie Sullivan directly.
Jim’s laughter, spirit, and love will be remembered always.
