James's obituary

James Herbert Harden

August 1, 1956 - July 3, 2025

James Herbert Harden passed away on July 3, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on August 1, 1956, at the Jacksonville Naval Base in Jacksonville, Florida, James was the youngest of three children and grew up alongside his two sisters.

James dedicated his life to the open road. At just 17 years old, he earned his CDL and began what would become a lifelong career as a truck driver. He took immense pride in his work, delivering goods across America and always finding purpose in serving the needs of others through his driving.

He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Kelly Harden; his stepdaughter, Kayla Gomez; his stepsons, Grady Murphy and David Murphy; and his cherished grandchildren, Benson Gomez, Lilliana Gomez, and Trevor Douglas.

A man of many interests, James enjoyed ham radio, fishing, and working in his yard. He had a knack for fixing things and found joy and pride in keeping things running — whether it was a motor or a mower. Above all, James was a man of faith. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he found strength in the gospel and joy in serving others. He was known for his kindness, quiet strength, and his signature phrase: "Good deal."

James held close the scripture found in Moroni 9:23 - 10:6, verses 3-5:

"Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts."

"And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost."

"And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things."

A celebration of James' life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 215 3rd Ave West, Marsing, Idaho 83639. He will be laid to rest following the service at Marsing-Homedale Cemetery, 4410 Cemetery Road, Marsing, Idaho 83639.

James will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his strong faith, and his unwavering work ethic. He leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and quiet strength.
