James's obituary

James “Jim” Henry Hagedorn, age 83, of McDonough, Georgia, passed away on December 20, 2025. Born on June 9, 1942, on a farm near West Point, Nebraska, Jim was the son of the late Clara and Casper Hagedorn.

Jim served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he built a successful career in business management. As the owner of several businesses, Jim was known for the relationships he built; engaging with people and connecting with his community was truly his favorite part of his work.

While Jim was a man of many achievements, his family was his greatest pride. He loved playing golf and tennis, riding bikes with his children, and spending time together in nature. An avid sports fan, he spent many afternoons cheering on Denver and Atlanta sports teams, with a special loyalty to the Broncos.

Jim will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and "Papa." Having the gift of encouragement, he made sure his kids always knew the depth of his love, and his favorite thing to tell them was how proud of them he was. His greatest joy was found at family gatherings, where he was rarely seen without a book in his hand and a grandbaby in his lap.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Elizabeth; his sister, Marlene; and his daughters, Amy and Angie. His legacy lives on through his granddaughters, Ericka, Shelby, and Hayley, as well as the absolute highlights of his life—his great-grandchildren: Willow, Oliver, Charli, and Elliott. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill, Irvin, and Casper "Cappy" Jr.
