Jim was in all conference Missouri River valley conference football player and a lifelong enthusiast of the sport. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.
He was the #1, tireless fan, of anyone in his family. He never missed his sons’ games – especially football. In later years, he was an enthusiastic supporter of his wife's horse obsession and enjoyed attending and supporting horse shows.
A period of time that he highly cherished was involvement in the sport he loved, football, as a coach. For a number of years in the 1960’s he was assistant or head coach of a team of 6th, 7th and 8th graders. He spoke very favorably of those times, experiences, and people.
He was always quick to help out anyone in need. He would have given you the proverbial “shirt off his back” in a Missouri minute.
He was a hard worker and dedicated to the positions that he held. He was a valuable asset to every company that he worked for. They all hated to see the day that he ceased employment with them.
Jim was a tireless Do-It-Yourselfer, and very skilled handy man around the house, barn, or garage. His personally run home renovation projects are legendary, and turned out better than expected. Just slightly below the love he felt for his family, was his adoration of which ever dogs or cats happened to be near him, especially his dogs. His love for them resulted in their worship of him was very touching throughout the years.
He was a real lover of life, people and pets.
He had recently moved to Wisconsin Rapids to be closer to family. He was very much a dedicated family man and a loving husband.
