Jim's obituary

In profound sorrow, we announce the passing of James "Jim" Green, who left us peacefully on July 6, 2024. Better known as Jim, he was born on June 1, 1949, and his remarkable life spanned 75 years, filled with dedication, love, and generosity.

Jim was a loving husband, survived by his wife, Cassy Green. His love for this family was exceptional, and he will forever live in the hearts of his three children and five grandchildren, who are part of his enduring legacy. His spirit will continue to shine bright through them, passing on the lessons he had instilled in their lives.

Jim's personality was the perfect blend of honesty, friendliness, trustworthiness, determination, and intelligence. He had a strong belief in the value of life being not in its duration, but its donation. This philosophy empowered Jim to live a life full of giving, both to his family and to the community which he served with dedication and pride.

Jim was a decorated retiree from the Air Force, having held the prestigious position of Master Sergeant. A man of courage and conviction, he also served as Fire Chief at both Cheyanne Mountain and Shavano Park. His perseverance, commitment, and leadership played a monumental role in protecting his community and country, which will forever remain one of his greatest accomplishments.

In honor of Jim's exceptional life, a Celebration of Life will be held on August 4, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Schertz Civic Center. It will be a time of shared stories, laughter, as we remember the extraordinary man that Jim was, and the enduring impact he had on all those fortunate enough to have known him.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jim's name to support the causes he was deeply passionate about. His memory will live on not only in our hearts but also in the good that these donations will achieve.

Jim’s remarkable life will always be cherished, and he will be immensely missed. Rest in peace, James "Jim" Green.
