James's obituary
He was a man of uncommon integrity, and kindness. Born in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, he was the eldest of eight children born to Margarite Graham (Campbell) and Fred Hackley Campbell.
He enlisted in the Navy at 19, and served honorably and with many commendations, for a combined 23 years in both the Navy and Air Force.
He met and married the love of his life in Harrodsburg, Virginia Cunningham, and lost her to cancer in 1990. He was a caring and devoted husband, and father.
After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he worked another 22 years for the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board in Richmond, VA, in charge of their photo lab.
At the time of his death, he was survived by his daughter Patricia Dale Campbell, brothers Harry (Bobbie), Bobby, Fred (Cecelia), Bill, and his half-sister Vicki Smith Knott.
He was predeceased by his wife Virginia, son James Steven, and sisters Betty Flowers, Barbara Ann Campbell-Frugard, and Janet Holden.
