Jim's obituary

James Collin Gooding, age 79 of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, passed away on January 5, 2023, after a lengthy battle with heart disease coupled with dementia.

Jim was born in 1943 in Sandusky, Ohio to Hayward H. Gooding and Mary Jo (Paull) Gooding. They raised him in the nearby town of Attica, Ohio. He graduated from Attica High School, earned his bachelor of science degree in education from Bowling Green State University, and his master's degree from Lehigh University. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. In 1965, he married Monica Hartzel. They had two children, Amy and Seth. In 1992, he married Michele Stratton, they had a daughter, Jordan, and his stepdaughter, Jennifer. Jim taught middle school science in the Council Rock School District for 31 years. He was also a proud member of the Lion’s Club. Jim enjoyed home improvement projects and was an avid clock collector. He loved gathering with friends and family and making people smile.

Jim is survived by his sister, Cheryl Gooding of West Palm Beach, Florida, his daughter, Amy Brooks (Thomas) of Cumming, Georgia, his son Seth Gooding (Amy) of Round Hill, Virginia, his stepdaughter, Jennifer Oberholtzer (Jacob) of Norfolk, Virginia, and his daughter, Jordan Gooding of Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Jim has 6 grandchildren, Adam (22), Charlotte (17), Ryan (13), Layne (11), Magnolia (6), and Liliana (3). He is also survived by his beloved gray cat, Kitty.
