Damn it James! As "Meat" stated, this is very hard to comprehend. You and the 2001 Marian basketball team were great fun to coach and be around! Unfortunately, I have not seen you much the last few years since I moved to the Chicagoland area, but Coach Grimes and Coach Mitchell kept me posted about you and your family! Many great memories and one of the best was the game winning dunk you had at Franklin College! Still amazing! RIP Buddy! Coach Mike McKenzie, Marian and Aurora University
My heart is broken . I haven’t seen James in a few years but thinking of that huge smile and the amount of love he had for his family will always stay with me . I’m honored for the time I got to spend with you . Love and prayers my man !!
James, it really troubles me to learn that you left at an early age. However, I am glad that I got to know you when I did; and that you are much HAPPIER up there in Heaven. You will be missed GREATLY!!!!

May His Peace be with you.
It’s hard to put into words how much James will be deeply missed. He is gone way to soon , and way to young . James was always loving , chill , laidback and the coolest.
Sadly I’m sending condolences to my family for this loss and praying that god helps ease the pain of his passing.

For 3 years in high school I Guarded James everyday in practice, he made me a better player. I knew I had to bring it everyday or James would put me in the rim and I would never hear the end of it. That competition turned into a forever lasting friendship. Not the kind where we talk everyday or hangout all the time but the kind that when we saw each it was just like we saw each other yesterday. I never had a bad time when I would hangout with James, he had a smile that would light any room he was in. I’m going to miss him. I going to miss him telling stories about us playing together and saying I couldn’t stop him all I did was foul him. I did foul him but not as much as he would say. James was and I an awesome person he’s going to be missed. I loved James, the bond you form from playing sports is just like one you form with your blood family. James was my brother and I’m going to miss him. He ran an awesome race and now he pull some pranks in heaven. I can imagine God giving him the side, and James just smiling.
