James Gaithern Ramsey, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 31, 2018.

Born in Cherokee Falls, he was the loving husband of Pauline Durham Ramsey for 63 years and the son of the late Crowder M. Ramsey and Nellie Sparks Ramsey. He was a graduate of Blacksburg High School and Limestone College and enjoyed carpentry and woodworking. Mr. Ramsey was retired from The United States Army, having served in Korea, Vietnam and Germany and taught school for eleven years at Cherokee High School and Ewing Junior High School. Mr. Ramsey was a member of Cherokee Falls Missionary Fellowship Church, where he was a former Sunday School teacher, former chairman of The World Wide Christian Fellowship and former pastor in Timmonsville.

In addition to his wife, also surviving are four sons, Mark Ramsey and wife, Kimberly of Gaffney, Duane Ramsey and wife, Teresa of Cherokee Falls, Joel Ramsey of Spindale and Peter Ramsey of the home; a daughter, Paula Stacy of Gaffney; a brother, Arnold Ramsey and wife, Lucille of Cherokee Falls; five grandchildren, Brad Ramsey and wife, Jessica, Ryan Ramsey, Jason Ramsey, Reverend Chad Ramsey and wife, Keely and Carissa Stacy; and four great-grandchildren, Easton Ramsey, Waylon Ramsey, Hutson Ramsey and Lydion Ramsey.
