Jim's obituary
James “Jim” Fischer
April 22, 1931 – November 23, 2024
James “Jim” Fischer, 93, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024, in Boise, Idaho. A man deeply rooted in faith, family, and hard work, Jim lived a full and generous life marked by love, laughter, and service to others.
Born on April 22, 1931, Jim grew up with strong family values that stayed with him throughout his life. He was known for his loyalty to his family and friends, willingness to help anyone in need, and playful sense of humor. He had a special place in his heart for kids, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was always happiest surrounded by loved ones.
Jim made his home in Butte, Montana, for more than 50 years. He worked for the Anaconda Company, beginning as a miner and later becoming an electrician at the Butte Concentrator. After an early retirement from Anaconda, he continued his commitment to hard work as the maintenance supervisor at the Butte YMCA. Even in retirement, Jim stayed active by mowing grass at golf courses in Butte and later in Billings.
Jim enjoyed golfing, long walks, reading, tending to his vegetable garden, tinkering, and playing cards. He was a man who found joy in the simple things and always had time for a friendly conversation or a quick joke.
He is survived by his brother Robert “Bob” Fischer and sister Joan “Bubs” Meyer; daughters Wendi Fischer and Tracy Fischer Lester; grandchildren Nick and Cody Pericich, Bryana Purvis Allen, Kylena Purvis, Kelci Lester Garda, and Jesse, Hunter, Kegan, and Cooper Lester; and eight great-grandchildren.
Jim is reunited in eternal peace with his parents, Pete and Rose Fischer; ten siblings; his wives, Helen Fischer and Jean Schollmeyer Fischer; daughter Camy Fischer Poore; and grandson Gary Pericich.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Butte. A reception will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the McQueen Club in Butte.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Paul Clark Home McDonalds Family Place in Butte, a cause close to Jim’s heart.
