James's obituary

James Edward York, 70, passed away on April 24, 2025, in Columbus, Georgia.

Born on November 5, 1954, in Morehead City, North Carolina, James grew up with a strong sense of family and dedication that would define his life. Throughout the years, he remained deeply committed to hard work and the values he held dear.

James found great joy in life's simple pleasures. He had a deep appreciation for live music, often attending performances that brought him closer to the rhythms and melodies he loved. An avid golfer, he spent many hours on the course, enjoying both the game and the camaraderie it fostered. At home, James took pride in caring for his home and yard, finding satisfaction in maintaining a welcoming and beautiful space.

Family was at the heart of everything James did. He passed on his love for live music and his unwavering commitment to family values to those closest to him. His strong work ethic served as an enduring example for future generations.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Melba York, and his two brothers, Richard and Dale York.

He is survived by his best friend and wife of 42 years, Delores York; his children, Jeremy York and his wife, Marie, Elaine York and her partner, Carlos, and Levi York and his wife, Nicole; his grandchildren: Justus Becker, Samuel Becker, Nora Becker, Kristopher Odem, Terilee York, James York, and DJ York; Sisters Diana Sewell (Jerry) and Kathy Fain; and many devoted nieces and nephews.

James's legacy is one of devotion—to his family, his passions, and the principles that guided him throughout his life. May his memory bring joy to all who knew him.
