Mindfulness pilot experiment …
2019, Mountain View office
Mindfulness pilot experiment with wearables! James was so supportive and willing to do silly stuff with us. — with Ariel Ganz, Ben Rolnij and Jack Scala

Hi I did not know of this individual until my friend reccomend i listen to his podcast with Mel . I so wish I had been able to meet him. I am in health care and he must have been amazing to work with in this challenging field. I could not believe he cried during the podcast. I am able to so identify with that closeness to the depth and challenges of living with despair. He was able to surmount and live a great life despite of this. He was able to  utilize his pain and hurt to help others. Unless you have this type of mind and experioence it can be very hard to identify with . Thank you for the opportunity to hear this  podcast and i wll obtain his book and try to learm more and may his legacy live on

Blessings

This is devastating. Condolences to the family. What a blessing Jim was. His work will live on and continue to make the world a better place.

I was introduced to Dr Doty by the Mel Robbins podcast. I found Dr. Doty to be authentic and to me he was the “real deal”.    His knowledge of the brain, manifestation, and how the two are connected truly resonated with me and my “Holistic Being”.   When news reached me that Dr Doty had passed away and  transitioned into to next world, I felt gut punched and profoundly saddened / emotionally drained.  I Notwithstanding his transition on July 15, 2025, Dr. James Doty is my favorite Mentor and Spiritual Guide/Guru and I treasure all of his published  books, written materials, websites and podcasts.

My heart and prayers go out to his family, friends, and everyone who has been touched by Dr Doty. His legacy will truly live on, and I will always be grateful for being introduced to his greatness

Dr. Doty's works meant so much to me. I was hoping I would get the opportunity to study with him this last spring. I hope this work continues on in his honor and his spirit. Sending so much love to the family and gratitude for sharing him with us.
What a truly beautiful human being that will be missed by the world.  I am deeply sorry for your loss and sending my prayers to his beloved family.  God bless

I just today finished reading Into the Magic Shop. I have no idea who recommended it to me. My name is Ruth and I have spent my life learning and sharing the magic (and yes I call it magic) of mindfulness and meditation. I'm also happy and grateful to say I beat breast cancer. I fully intended to reach out to James when I finished the book to share all these "coincidences" - and then I heard.

Sending tremendous gratitude to James and all who love him. I'm just so disappointed I missed him in person.

I was introduced to Dr Doty by the Mel Robbins podcast.  I was immediately captivated by his warm, calm demeanor and his vast knowledge of the brain, manifestation, and how the two are connected.  Today, I received an email from Mel (as I do every Tuesday & Thursday) stating that, sadly, Dr Doty has transitioned to the next life.  I am so sad by learning this.  I feel as if I've lost a member of my own family.  This is a testament to just how magnificent and powerful a man he was (as I didn't actually know him and had only viewed various podcast episodes of him teaching).

My heart and prayers go out to his family, friends, and everyone who has been touched by Dr Doty.  His legacy will truly live on, and I will always be grateful for being introduced to his greatness.

I met Jim in 2015 in at operating room.  Here comes in to the room this larger then life guy to do nuerosurgery. I was his tech for the day. When I first met him I was taken back at how personal and genuine.  As time went on I became the primary tech to work with him when he came to do surgeries which was several times a week for about 6 yeara  and I looked so forward to it. His story of travels, his meetings with so many important people, and I found my self learning and growing and just wanted to talk with him because of the way he spoke with so much love and compassion and wisdom and knowledge of life... Over the years he was more then my neuro surgeon but he became my mentor and friend... I feel incredibly blessed to have had that distincted honor to be able to have so much one on one time with him.. These are memories and lessons that I will carry with me... Dr. Doty was a true treasure and he will be profoundly missed by everyone!!! ...

My heart is broken for this loss and for his family.  I send prayers and love during this very difficult time...

Thank you Dr. Doty "Jim "  for everything you taught us and encouraged with in us... Always to be better!

I loved working with Dr. Doty at ECH. He was always kind and encouraging. He made me laugh and see the humor in so many things. He will be missed.

From his TRANSLATOR into GERMAN (Matthias D. Borgmann, Augsburg/ Germany), 1st August 2025

Remembering JIM ...

Will never forget the impact Jim and his book INTO THE MAGIC SHOP had on my life in a difficult time ... and the beautiful repercussions it had professionally and personally for myself, as I discovered the book for the german-speaking world (Germany, Austria and Switzerland) in 2016 and had the great opportunity to be his translator into german afterwards (as for his sequel MIND MAGIC). He and his work on COMPASSION brought so much love, happiness and possibility into my life ever since ... I will ever be thankful to JIM! I am so sad that this "luminous" human being passed away way too early, would have liked to know him in person. But that was not possible.

Best for his family ... Love & compassion to everybody!

Matthias

I don't remember how I discovered "Into the Magic Shop", but I was so struck by the power that we all have to take over whatever we imagined our destiny was that the book illustrated. I LOVED that book. I immediately gave copies to my two sons, and then to my two nieces - all of whom were 20-somethings at the time. I also begged my book club to read it and they were captivated as well and many said they were giving it to their kids too. One of us had obviously told her family about the book, as when she died, a quote from it was in the funeral program. I wrote to Dr. Doty, hoping to strike up a friendship with him - naive, I know, as I'm sure I was in a long line of fans and admirers. He wrote me a very quick thank you and I was so disappointed, thinking "don't you understand how much you've meant to me?" But I think he knew, he just had so much to teach. I'm so sorry for his family, friends, and all of us who received his lessons and may still do so by reading his work.
I am saddened to hear of Dr Doty’s passing. I am grateful for the Year of Miracles Program 2024 which introduced me to his work and where he was a guest teacher. He was truly kind and compassionate in every word he spoke.

I was devastated to hear about Dr Doty. I found  him on my healing journey over the past few years and he was a profound being on my path. His vulnerability and honesty about his life and path is nothing short of miraculous. It allowed me to confront my own truth and honesty and reading his books and hearing him speak was soulful and deeply life changing. As a nurse practitioner it was sickening to hear about his surgical mishap and prolonged  hospitalization but I was elated when he posted how he was in rehab and doing well.  I have been upset and tearful all day as I had hoped  to have met him one day. Rest in peace and may our souls cross paths one day❤️. Thank you for all you have given us, I am truly grateful!
Dr. Doty and I became good friends after i sent him an e-mail commending him on his seminal book "Into The Magic Shop".  He has a been a good friend, mentor, and personal hero.  I miss texting with him.  He gave me support last year when my 'Ol Man underwent surgery for gall bladder removal.  He and I disagreed re: the existence of God and an afterlife in Heaven, but I know for a fact that I won that argument with him, and while he can see us, one day, we will all be able to see him again.

Had the pleasure of meeting him through the ACT program and his books. The impact he has made to many of us is immeasurable. Thanks for your teachings, your kindness and for sharing your personal history that has transformed the trajectory of so many lives. We live you!
