James's obituary

James Daniel Walker, 70, of Smyrna, GA, passed away suddenly on August 8, 2021, at his residence.

He was born in Smyrna, GA, December 6, 1950, to Daniel and Mary Walker. James attended Marietta Cobb Vocational School for Electronics in 1971.

James enlisted in the Army in November 1971 as a Radio Relay and Carrier Attendant and Radio Mechanic for the 26th Signal Battalion. He was stationed at the USA Transfer Station in Fort Jackson, SC.

After the Army, James moved to Augusta, GA where he worked at Gracewood State School and Hospital for many years. He also worked at the Fort Gordon Dinner Theater for a short time.

James enjoyed drowning the occasional worm at the Lock and Dam, attending races at Carolina Dragway, and watching NASCAR while sipping on a cold one.

He is survived by two sons, Michael (Kristen) Walker, of Martinez, GA, and Stephen (Bobbi) Walker of Hiram, GA; five grandchildren, Noah, Makayla, and Keira of Hiram, GA, Tyler and Hailey of Martinez, GA; his guardian angel, Joan Kovsky, and best friend Ali both of Smyrna, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Mary Walker.

James will be cremated, and his final resting place will be in Martinez, GA with his son Michael and family. No services will be held.
