Doug's obituary

James Douglas Cox,Doug, 65 passed away, unexpectedly on July 30, 2022 in Reno, Nevada, of natural causes.

He was born on August 9, 1956, in Superior, Arizona, where he graduated from Superior High School with a scholarship to Colby Community College in Kansas. He earned an Associates degree and transferred to UTEP, in El Paso Texas,where he was hurt ending his basketball  career.

Doug moved to Reno, Nevada where he met and married the love of his life, Linda, whom he was married to for 33 years. They celebrated their anniversary the night before his death.

Doug leaves behind 2 children from a previous marriage, Charles (Jenni) Cox, and Deanna (Tony) Perkins, and 5 Grandchildren. He also is survived by two brothers Tom and Ronnie (Venita) Cox.  There are many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention that will miss him dearly.

Doug was preceded in death by his mother Essie Earline Cox Foutz, and brothers in law Ray and Ron Christensen, all in the last 6 months.

Doug was in Reno for over 40 years and worked for various employers and was also self employed for many years. His current employer was  the Washoe County Sheriffs Department where he was an Inmate Work Supervisor at the jail, a job he dearly loved.

Doug and Linda traveled extensively the last six years throughout the US and into Canada. Doug even went fishing in Alaska, where he caught his limit!!!

 Celebrations of Life to be held: August 27, 2022- 2 to 5 PM. Cold Springs Community Ctr. 3355 White Lake Pkwy.   Cold Springs, Nevada.

October 8, 2022-5 to 9 PM.  VFW Superior, Arizona.
