James “Jim” L. Congdon II was born on March 25, 1952 to the late Dr. Paul U. Congdon and Phyllis (Young) Congdon of Wilbraham, Massachusetts. He attended Minnechaug Regional High School in Wilbraham (Class of 1970) and was a graduate of Ithaca College, where he earned a degree in radio broadcasting. Over the course of many decades, Jim worked as a disc jockey and radio personality under the pseudonym “Jim Schuyler”. His original on-air comedy shows brought listeners in from all over the country and showcased both his sense of humor and creative mind. Beyond his career in radio, Jim was also known for his sharp wit, intelligence, and musical abilities. His special interests included comic books, illustration, various genres of music, and other forms of creative media. He was fond of the outdoors and spending time in nature. Jim is survived by his caring sister Karen (Congdon) Amerman of Monson, MA, his three incredible daughters: Rachel Congdon of Washington D.C., Emily Congdon of Winston-Salem, NC, Samantha “Sammi” (Congdon) Cesere of Maui, HI, and his two beloved granddaughters: Kenna and Millie Cesere, who brought him great pride and joy. He is also survived by nephew Eric Amerman, niece Elizabeth (Amerman) Burns, and several other extended family members and dear friends. Jim was loved and will be deeply missed.
