Jim making strawberry jam at his Rose Hill kitchen stove

It's almost strawberry season once again, and it is with great sadness that I learn that Jim won't be here to welcome this year's crop. In 2006, when I first met Jim, he shared that he enjoyed making and gifting family and friends with homemade jam. Though now retired, as a freelance syndicated food columnist/photographer with
Bluffton Today newspaper, I jumped at the chance to accept Jim's gracious invitation to observe the making of Jim's Strawberry Jam in his pristine Rose Hill kitchen. After sharing his time, talent and delicious recipe for strawberry jam, Jim made news in our community and throughout the World Wide Web (WWW), as his countenance, recipe and technique was published on the food pages of the April 18, 2006 issue. I offer my heartfelt sympathy to Rose and cherished family and friends. May Jim enjoy the comfort of God's loving, tender embrace and the peace of long walks through strawberry fields forever. Jim was a good friend and it was a pleasure and honor to have known him. The memories of Jim that were shared during the service brought back memories of the time spent with him in DC, Florida and on the boat in Maryland. I love Jim and will remember his kind spirit, his stories and friendship forever.

I have such fond memories of this “most handsome man”. He would light up the room with his smile and positive energy. More than once, he shared his tasty jam!!! More than once I returned his jelly jars. I remember his saying “no one does that anymore! “.
You will be missed handsome man!

May Christ's Love and that of your Loved-One, James, forever be present in each of you as family and friends circling with support of James' being. The younger brother, Michael of Houston, TX, is my friend and school mate, wherein together we are praising for the joyful memories here shared and in support of your grief -missing James' physical being; yet never-ever being without James' spirit. This obituary speaks volumes of a life well lived. Younger brother, Michael is a facsimile to his Big Brother; caring and giving love & joy for family and friendships. May James rest in peace and always in your hearts.....

Sincere sympathy to Rose and the family. I first met Jim at the marina where we became boating neighbors. Rick and I have many fond memories of our weekend boating trips with him and Rose. He was a true gentleman. Rest in peace.
