James's obituary
Jim was born on May 2, 1935 to Gladys and Edward Burke in Braintree, Massachusetts. He grew up there, and was the oldest of four children.
Jim served in the United States Navy in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. It was his service in the Navy that brought him to
Long Beach, where he met and fell in love with his wife, Joanne.
Jim was an natural athlete and sportsman. He was an outstanding bowler, playing in leagues and tournaments at the semi-pro level. He bowled dozens of sanctioned perfect “300” games. Although bowling was his first love, Jim was also an avid golfer.
Jim was a devoted husband, loving father, and loyal friend. He was an honorable, decent man with an easy going nature, and was liked by all who met him.
