James Bruce “Fuzzy” Anderegg , 86 of Merced, California, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on May 18, 2025, after a prolonged battle with CHF, COPD and pulmonary fibrosis of the lungs. 

Born on March 31, 1939, in Merced, Jim was the son of the late John M. Anderegg and Mary “Marie” E. Anderegg. Know affectionately as " Fuzzy “ he attended Charles Wright Elementary and Herbert Hoover Junior High, excelling in baseball, basketball and football. Soon after graduation, Jim began his 36-year career at the Merced Union High School District, starting as a bus driver, advancing to district mechanic, and ultimately becoming Director of Transportation before retiring in 1994. Jim was very dedicated to his career, family and friends, always available when needed. Jim was passionate about fishing and hunting, sharing wonderful memories throughout his life with family and friends..

Jim married the love of his life, Viola and together they enjoyed 67 years of marriage. Jim is survived by his wife Viola, son Raymond Anderegg, daughter Marlene Roth, grandson Clayton Ayers his wife Renee Ayers and great granddaughter Emily Ayers. As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

A grave site service is June 12, at 1:00pm,  Merced Cemetery District 1300 B. Street. A  Celebration of life will follow at Lake Yosemite, Fish and Game building.
