James Allen House

January 4, 1937 – September 18, 2024

James Allen (Jim) House, 87, of Carmel, Indiana, passed away on September 18, 2024, after a courageous battle with mesothelioma. Jim was born on January 4, 1937, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to James A. and Beaetta L. House. He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School and went on to have a successful career as a pipefitter with Local 440. In 1973, Jim founded his own company, J.A. House, Inc., where he served as President and CEO until selling the company in 1996. He also served as the President of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America in 1990 and served on the Plumbers and Pipefitters National Pension Board.

An avid golfer, Jim was a member of Crooked Stick Golf Club in Indianapolis for over 20 years, and more recently was a member at Panther Run Golf Course in Ave Maria, Florida, where he scored an 85 on his 86th birthday.

A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Jim was preceded in death by his sisters Jamesine and Marlene. He is survived by his devoted wife, Elizabeth House, his son James Matthew House, and his beloved grandchildren Emery Anne House and James Andrew House. His family and friends will miss his dry wit and his insatiable curiosity.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Sunday, October 13, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. ET at the Ritz Charles, located at 12156 N. Meridian Street, Carmel, IN 46032. Family and friends are invited to attend and share in honoring Jim’s memory.
