Even though Jim was my uncle he treated me like a son.   Not like he treated his one son Jimmy, but he gave me lots of advice, love and included me in his life.  He taught me to hunt and took me hunting with him and Jimmy (Jimmy was like and is like a younger brother).  Those were of the greatest of times and I couldn't have thanked him enough for those experiences.  He was my country dad, while my father was raised a city boy and covered that part of my life.  Uncle Jim was a caring man, honest and fair with everyone he dealt with.   You didn't take his mild manner as a weakness however if you knew what was good for you.  He always protected his family and provided well for them.  He loved his wife Betty Jean very much and was a great husband, always true and loving.  He also had two daughters Christina and the baby Dorthy who he was so proud of and loved so much.  He spent more time with Jimmy because the girls seemed to gravitate more around their mother than their father.  I fondly remember their family camping trips to Arroyo Seca and the whole family doing fun experiences together.  When we were kids they were like a second family to me.  I will always think fondly of uncle Jim (dad #2) and the wonderful times we spent together.  I always think of him and remember the times we had together.  Jimmy (my younger brother) and I often talk together about how lucky we were to have this very special man in our lives.
