Jaleesa's obituary
Jaleesa Mae Maxfield, 37, transitioned to heaven on January 11, 2026. She was born on April 29, 1988, and was raised in Syracuse, New York.
Jaleesa was a free-spirited, fun-loving mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She is survived by her beloved son, Jamar Coger, Jr., who was the center of her world. She is also survived by her father, Edward Maxfield; her sisters Elisha Fraguada (John Fraguada), Ondreona Wigfall (Isaac Wigfall), Melissa Maxfield; and many more loving siblings, nieces, and nephews who will forever cherish her memory. She was predeceased by her mother, Barbara Maxfield, whom she now joins in eternal glory.
Jaleesa had a passion for cooking and cosmetology, loved listening to music, and was a natural gift giver, finding joy in making others feel appreciated. Whether baking a dessert, styling hair, or surprising someone with a thoughtful present, she expressed her love through creativity and generosity.
Known affectionately as “Jelly,” Jaleesa brought joy and laughs to those around her. Her presence and love will be deeply missed but never forgotten by all who respected and cherished her.
Home going services will be held on Monday, January 26, 2026 at Greater Emmanuel Temple COGIC in Hampton, Virginia. A public viewing will start at 11am with the service starting immediately after at 12:00 PM, noon EST.
