Jai's obituary

Jai Allen Curry, lovingly known by the family as “Poo Pee Doo,” of Conyers, Georgia, passed away on September 9, 2021, at 50.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 15, 1971, Jai grew up in Peoplestown, Atlanta, GA, attended D.H Stanton Elementary School, and later graduated from Walter F. George High School. Jai pursued a career in Law enforcement after graduating from Interactive Learning Systems.

Jai worked as a Detention Officer at the Atlanta City Detention Center for several years before moving on to Newton County Sheriff’s Office, where he served as a Deputy Sheriff.

Jai is survived by his son Jacquez and daughter Brittany.

Brother Eric Mapp (Angela), nephews and niece Brandon, Awtumn, and Ethan.

Sister Ophee Curry Hinton, nephew Kevin & grandnephew Kai - North Carolina, and nephew Demitri (Chandler) Curry, & grandniece Emmie - Weymouth, Massachusetts.

Sister Cynthia Latimer & Family - Orlando, FL

Aunt Jamie Counter, cousins Rev. Carlton Huff (Charlotte)& Family, Carol Huff & Family, Rev. Mrs. Meiko Daniels (Antonio) & Family, Rodney Huff.

Cousins Mary Virginia and her daughter Cherie Jenkins & Family– Brunson, Ohio.

Cousins Linda, McClenic and her sons Shawn Brown and Harold McClenic – Virginia.

Cousin Clay Watson – Florida.

Cousins Earl Brown (Katherine) & Family and James Brown (Betty) Brown & Family.

Cousins Connie Prothro Brown and her children Aaron Brown (Dawn) & Family, Larticia Brown & Family, Corey Brown (Jennifer).

Family friends Theodore Robinson, Tony Mapp, Bobby Perry, Rod Calloway, and Maurice “Reese” Warren.

Jai is preceded in death by (Mother) Ophelia Counter Mapp Curry, (Father) Amber Cain Curry Sr., (Brother) Amber Cain Curry Jr., (Grandparents) Jasper Allen Counter (Lois Walker Counter), (Uncle) Jasper “Jack “Allen Counter Jr, (Uncle) Benny Counter, (Aunt) Naomi Hendrix Brown, (Cousin) Albert “Yonnie” Brown.

Jai will be greatly missed, as we all mourn the loss of a father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, we encourage all who knew him to remember the joy he brought to each of you!
