Jadelin's obituary
Jadelin Pikake Menor-Felipe, also known as “piecake” to her besties growing up, was born summer of 1984, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and passed away in the spring of 2023 in the Bay Area of California. She was 38 years old when she succumbed to her tireless battle with depression.
As a lifelong learner, she’d continue her education whenever possible achieving numerous certifications and degrees with impressive reviews, however, it was all those she met along her path that learned something about real human connection.
She impressed those she worked with in her professional pursuit of community building, writing, creative education, and digital wellness. Across her journey, Jadelin had few acquaintances and mostly dear connections she kept in touch with across time and geography. Knowing Jadelin in any capacity was a delight; the questions she’d ask upon meeting somebody impressed towards genuine connection.
She sought out and taught the importance of “me” time, and cherished pursuing a wide range of joys, including, being with friends and family, being near the ocean or lake, dancing, yoga, supporting new and old friends alike, and unplugging towards digital wellness. She fought impressively for sustainability and equality, living her life by example. The dimensions of her personality were not casually approached; so many people she’d loved will breathlessly extol her wondrous attributes: passionate, bubbly, genuine, warm, honest, open, principled, joyous, selfless, motivated, and always sharing positive affection.
Jadelin is survived by her partner, Merrick Clark, the five years and 219 days spent with her being the best of his life. She was predeceased by her grandmother Maria Menor, being fundamental to her childhood, her father, Virgilio Felipe, and her brother, Steve Felipe. She is also survived by her mother, Shirly Lin, her sister, Nicole, brother-in-law, Karl, and niece, Karma, who loves Corvettes.
