Jacquelyn's obituary
Jacquelyn Mae (Vance) Winzer-Ramos passed peacefully on Jan. 4th 2026 at the age of 101yrs. old. She was born Jan. 3rd, 1925 in Sanger, California.
Her first husband Roy Winzer from Reedly, Calif. was an Airforce pilot but disappeared over the Bermuda Triangle during a regular exercise. She moved her young family from her second marriage to Smiles Ramos( divorced), to San Francisco , then to Santa Cruz, Calif. While living in San Francisco and a fan of Asian culture for she would go to Chinatown to little park and read to some disadvantaged children there.
Jacquelyn moved to Kauai many years ago where she was the nurse at the Kauai Correctional Center .
In her retirement she was volunteer for AARP, The Kauai Museum, etc and was given a Certificate of Outstanding Female Older American Nominee For the County of Kauai in 2006 for her many hours of volunteer work.. She was in a hula halau, and danced in the Bon dance festivals. and took Tai Kwon do. On the mainland she had learned belly dancing, hula, even took Balinese dancing.
Jacquelyn annually ran in the Haena to Hanalei annual run and the Great Aloha Run for around 20 years.
She sang annually with the Kauai Choirale. You may have seen her cheerily giving out food samples at Costco . Jacquelyn also crocheted, sewed, and liked to paint pictures, some her family still has. She enjoyed all the activities at the Lihue senior citizens center and played bingo to the end at the care home in Kaneohe where she lived near her daughter Carmela.
She is survived by her 4 children: Java (Bobby) Ray of Modesto, CA, Clark (Andea) Ramos of Milwaukie , OR, Sailor(Roger) DeCamp, Haena, Kauai, HI , and Carmela (Robert) Rupnow, Oahu, HI, 6 grandchildren, including Rachel and Tiare DeCamp of Kauai, and numerous great grandchildren.
A Celebration of life will be held for her at Church of the Pacific April 25 th at 10:00 am to 12:00.
