Jacqueline Kay Schiltges

Age 84, of Warren, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family on Jacqueline’s tribute wall at detroitcremationsociety.com.

Jacqueline (Jackie) Kay Schiltges was born on August 26, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter and Sylvia (Reske) Jaeger. Her home on Illinois Street and eventually Parkgrove provided a happy childhood for Jackie and her younger brother and sister. The three of them (along with Jackie’s favorite cousin, Nene) got into all sorts of mischief. After attending Guardian Angels Catholic School in Detroit, Jackie went on to graduate high school from St. Philip Neri. She worked at the Detroit Public Library until she met her husband, Jerome, at a bowling alley. The two were wed on February 4, 1961, bought a home on Hanford in Warren, and prepared for the birth of their first child, Catherine, in December of that same year. Jackie’s second child, Lisa, was born in March 1965.

Jackie’s life never had a dull moment. She cared for many people in and out of her Warren home. Jackie’s faith carried her through many hardships including caring for her daughter, Lisa, when she suffered a bad accident at age 2. Jackie cared for her aging mother-in-law for many months in her own home. The Sisters of St. Joseph were welcomed to Jackie’s house any time they needed a break from religious duties. She took in her first daughter’s entire family for 8 months while they built their own home in Clarkston. Jackie also cared for her granddaughter, Emily, who suffered a stroke at age 5 in her own home. For her own aging parents, Jackie was a blessing. Thankfully, they lived close by and she cared for them daily. She did all this while trying to maintain various jobs at RGIS and Dobbs Furniture.

Jackie lived in her nurturing home until October 2023 at which point she could no longer live alone. She became a resident at Lake Orion Nursing & Rehab Center where she enjoyed almost 2 stress free years with a wonderful roommate, Bette. They pushed each other to go to Sit and Stretch, to go to scheduled afternoon activities, and to enjoy the outdoor patio. They truly took care of each other. Jacqueline’s caring personality and happy spirit will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Catherine (Edward) Luibrand and Lisa (John) Hansel, her sister: Sylvia (Jerry) Koenigbauer, her sister-in-laws: Diana Jaeger and Rosemary Schiltges, her grandchildren: Nicholas (Anita) Luibrand, Nathan (Emanuela) Luibrand, Kelsey (Christopher) Gozdor and Emily Hansel, 5 great-grandchildren: Tyler, Amaya, Emilia, Ariston, and David, and many nieces and nephews.

Jacqueline was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Schiltges, her brother, Donald Jaeger, and her brother-in-law, John Schiltges.
