Jacqueline's obituary
Jacqueline Anne Cameron (L'Heureux), 83, of Calgary Alberta, passed away on September 12th, 2021 after a courageous heartbreaking battle with Covid Delta. She will be missed dearly by her children, grand & great-grandchildren, her siblings, family and many many friends. She is preceded by her husband and the love of her life Dr Jack Cameron. Jacqueline was healthy, vibrant, and strong walking up to 10,000 clicks a day. She lived life to the fullest, with an unstoppable zest, vim, vigour for life and unconditional love for her family and friends.
Jacqueline was born on March 3rd 1938 to Pete and Annie L'Heureux in the little french community of Jackfish Saskatchewan. She was the second youngest of 8 children. After attending Ness, a one-room school grade 1-8, she then ventured to St Paul High School 300 km away, where she graduated and learned English. Jacqueline moved back to North Battleford and worked for Dr Nikiforuk while helping look after her Mom who was dying of cancer. It was tough to leave her Dad and North Battleford as she ventured off to Calgary at 19 years old. Her Dad was sure she would be back and was surprised to find she landed a job in the big city within 2 weeks at Keith Construction.
She married and went on to have four children; David, Michelle, Marie and Dwight all within 5 years. It was a challenging time and a marriage that was not meant to last. She was a strong entrepreneurial and resourceful woman who dug in to make things work. She refurbished old cars, made all her kids clothes, and became a realtor (reaching the top 3 realtors in Calgary within 3 months- she was really the first extreme home make-over queen).
Jacqueline found her soul mate and the love of her life Dr Jack Cameron. They married becoming "Too Jacques" and combined their families, becoming Yours Mine and Ours, having the youngest together - the baby Lianne, making it 10 kids! They had unconditional Love for All their kids, supporting them all in their many adventures, education, sports, and chapters through life. They spent hours driving kids, sitting in bleachers, chaperoning trips and hosting visiting athletes and friends. The Cameron homestead was added onto as many times as there were kids and was the house with the rotating door and was the home -open to everyone. How they did it was amazing!
Jacqueline worked for Air Canada for almost 30 years and the adventures began with this big family. The first original Amazing Race - they would go on adventures picking destinations, splitting up into teams and having races to get there standing by. Her love of adventure and always finding a way is instilled in all their children. Too Jacques loved their adventures, including travel across Canada in their Islander, Sunseeker motorhome adventure in Hawaii (the 1st motor home on the islands), building the Casabella Princess - 50 passenger sternwheel paddle wheeler boat through the Shuswap and Penticton which employed many of the kids through the summer months. A windjammer barefoot cruise with all the kids through the virgin islands was just one of the highlight trips. She loved surprising her siblings on trips and adventures including tracing their heritage through France- and always Loved the annual "Sister's Adventures".
Jacqueline had an incredibly creative nature, she started a number of big undertakings including La Poche (cool jackets made from jeans) and launched her final venture at the young age of 75 with Jack at 77. Super-fly adaptive apparel, which started out of love to help her hubby look great and have dignity in getting dressed with ease - after being confined to a wheelchair his last few years. This gave a renewed sense of purpose in working together and a continued passion for helping others. Jacqueline was awarded the prestigious Top 7 over 70 in Calgary and was truly a Woman of Inspiration.
Jacqueline's drive to enjoy life, give back and help others will continue to live on through her faith, life lessons and values she instilled in all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all friends, family and many others who were fortunate enough to know her. She loved her ‘Happy hours with Dana Village crew…with many late-night giggles stories and mischief, and was always up for an adventure with Family or friends. (Note - very special that "Dana Village" is built on the old homestead)
We will miss her greatly. Jacqueline was predeceased by her loving husband Jack Cameron, her parents Pete and Annie and stepmom Lena, her brothers Med, Robert (Gene) and Laurier and this January her sister Corrine (Ray Ouellette). Jacqueline will be missed immensely by all her children, Cindy (Merle Hartzler), Jeff (Carol-Anne), David (Tara), Michelle (Al Coulter), Jamie (Lori), Marie (Bobby Fitzimmons), Lisa (John Sloot) Tommy, Dwight (Maria), Lianne (Ramon Vrelink), and all 39 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Her sister Teri /Theresa (Gord Johnston -deceased), Gil (Frank Flasch) Tony (Lynn L'Heureux) and Family, cousins and friends.
We have some peace in knowing that Mom, Memere, Jacqueline /Jackie, never grew old and is reunited with her soul mate, watching over us all. "Too Jacques" forever xo

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Lord make Me an instrument of Your peace
Where there is hatred let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon.
Where there is doubt, faith.
Where there is despair, hope.
Where there is darkness, light.
Where there is sadness joy.
O Divine master grant that I may
Not so much seek to be consoled as to console
To be understood, as to understand.
To be loved. as to love
For it's in giving that we receive
And it's in pardoning that we are pardoned
And it's in dying that we are born...
To eternal life.
