I remember most Jackie’s infectious smile and her love of family history that she shared with me. I’m so sorry that I’m only now learning this from a fellow bridge player. Prayers for comfort for Bill, Shannon, Billy, David and all who loved her.

It is very difficult to say goodbye to someone who has loved and respected themselves so much. Jackie and her family came into my life as angels. She means a lot to me, she was more than a friend in difficult times. Her attitude to life, teachings and affection will never be forgotten. She was and will continue to be an exemplary woman in my life. This is not goodbye, it's a see you later, until we meet again. You will always live in our hearts and in our prayers.

“Might as well Laugh than cry” ~ this is how I will choose to remember Jackie Bennett. I will celebrate the woman who openly loved, cared for and accepted me from the minute we met. I remember her telling David, “Oh she knows how to hug!” From that moment on we became fast friends, confidants - she became a mother to me and me another daughter. She and Bill have to be the most loving, God-fearing, servants whose sole mission is to love and support people. Jackie was the consummate host, who was crazy competitive and over the top! Everything she did, she did it well. Her passion for cooking and entertaining was infectious – I loved the holidays at the Bennett’s. Specially eating all of her Spanish recipes! We played games for hours – my fave Mille Bourne. She read voraciously always sharing the stories of human struggles and triumphs within. She loved the arts and was so excited to go to the Straz and the Playhouse in St. Pete. She even shared here Phantom of the Opera tickets! We had the opportunity to go on vacation together taking the chair lift to the top of a mountain for a little hike and great views, to chilling at the beach at Sanibel. Only second to God, her love of her family and friends was self-evident and eternally at the forefront of how she lived her days. She was always up for anything, even going to the gym and me putting her and Bill through a workout routine.  She was pretty talented! I always loved that her student number at USF was “2” and that she still was friends with her sorority sisters. She was a very smart, savvy and cultured lady! She would tell me to rest when I needed to, let me use her amazing bath tub and bring me tea when I was sick. We had many conversations about life and our struggles, sharing many common disappointments and how we still chose to overcome them. We both love our kitty cats and she and Bill always loved on my sweet cat Monkey – the Bennett yard and the Big house was his absolute favorite. They were very tolerant of me leaving the door open for Monkey to go in and out…and even when the Raccoons decided to pay a visit too! Wild times!!

I will close with my complete gratitude for Jacqueline Chancey Bennett – a woman full of grace, passion and dedication. To have the privilege to experience the sweet moments with you was God given. I feel you in my presence and my life is better because of your love.

Forever in the bonds - Sonja

To Bill and family, my deepest condolences for your loss. You are all a beautiful reflection of Jackie (Sam), Mom, and Meemaw.
Dearest Bill, Shannon, Billy and David,
We are sending you so much love from TX. Jackie was such a light in the world it is hard to imagine her not being here. You all have been like extended family and she was one of my other mothers! She was creative, generous and always had something kind to say to everyone. She was effusive in her love for her family and friends. She was always so supportive of me as I was growing up and interested in whatever I was doing. I credit the experiences I had being a part of a thriving youth group as the basis for the work I do now. She was a big part of that! I was thinking the other night about the overnight EYC event she planned where we all piled into cars and toured Tampa at night. We went to a disco (!) among other things and it was a blast. She taught me how to make a proper Cuban sandwich as we made a gazillion of them as a fundraiser! She was a lovely singer and a wonderful hostess. She was a light in the world and will continue to shine brightly through memory in my life. I am so grateful to have known her. Her greatest legacy is the 4 of you whom she loved so much. I am grateful to each of you, too. I will be at the service on Saturday virtually and will continue to hold all of you in prayer. Much Love, Anne
I don't know what happened, but I spent the better part of an hour preparing a proper eulogy for Jackie. I perhaps had close to 400 words of reminiscence and praise written and then the computer decided to have a glitch and all of what I had written disappeared. At 90, I'm too old to start pouring my heart out a second time. I'll just say that Jackie was the epitome of what I think the maternal instinct consists of, and that's why she let me get by with calling her "Mom." God bless her, God bless Bill and God bless all the Bennett family who are suffering a tremendous gap in their world. May they know that all the friends she made are also suffering that loss.

Dearest Bill and Shannon, Bill"y", and David, and all the Bennetts, I weep for you because of your great loss and sorrow. My heart goes out to you with understanding and love.
I was so very saddened when I learn of Jackie's passing. Each time I wanted to respond I couldn't think of words. Each time I would try to write, I couldn't see the through my tears. Thinking back 2 1/2 years ago at Phil's Celebration of Life being the last time I saw Jackie and Bill.
Over the years we shared so many very special memories of our families history, recipes, theological discussion, she shared Holy Innocents', celebrations, memorial, joys and sorrows.
I offer my trusting prayers for strength for you as you care for and comfort one another. And pray the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds.
Jackie can never be more than a thought away.
With my love and care, Lynn Robison
My shared memories began from David being a toddler. Moving into our first home into a new neighborhood. Over all those years Jackie shared her many many talents, gifts, and love for so many years.
One little story-
Jackie shared her family, her heritage, love for entertaining, food, and her creativity. One time she brought 5 of her handcraft friends together. Well, when we met, of course we would eat. Since handcrafting can be a sedentary pastime we decided we best go on a diet. This group of crafters needed a name, low and behold the Celery Group began. I have many other shared memories, but I had a picture of most of this group. Over the years it evolved and several of the Celery Group are "members" of Bluestockings Book Club.

Our hearts are broken in the loss of Jackie. She was such a beautiful soul both inside and out. Bill, you and Jackie have always been so special to us and all of those at Holy Innocents'. She was always so energetic and just full of life. And she was an amazing cook! We will so miss her. Our love and deepest sympathies to Bill and all the family. We pray for God's comfort and peace.

We are so sad and feel such a great loss of a long time friend and sister in our Christian journey. We've shared so many memories and special life changing events in our families - friendships, dinners, trips, children, weddings, showers, new babies, deaths, joys, laughter, tears and deaths and prayers. Our Thursday Cursillo group will be forever changed but we will always remember our dear friend. Our love and prayers are with you Bill and the whole Bennett family. With love and prayers - Pam and Greg

Words cannot express what a devastating loss this is to all of us who knew and loved Jackie. This hurts so bad. My deepest condolences to Bill & her family.
My deepest condolences to the family. I was shocked when I heard the news. Such a wonderful lady , Jackie you will be miss. I will miss our wonderful conversations about old Ybor, your wonderful food and your parties and our sometimes political arguments. Rest in Peace, may you be with the angels.
