The Jake Man's obituary
Our loved and most cherished pet, Jake passed away on July 14th, 2021. This marks the end of almost 10 wonderful filled years with the sweetest Husky a family could dream of having.
Jake came to live with new family the first weekend of gun season in 2012. He knew just what to do to be able to come home with Josh. He never barked, just stared Josh down with his one blue eye and his one brown eye. The Dog Warden of Seneca County let him out of his kennel to greet Josh and he sat next to his feet. Next thing he knew, his head was out the window enjoying the cold breeze from the front seat of Josh’s truck.
Jake was a dedicated runner when he was younger. He visited the most houses he could in the neighborhood on Sunday afternoons when the garage door was left open. If it wasn't Sunday's; it was Tuesday nights- when everyone took their trash out for collection. He had a best friends who lived just a few houses down named Sparky. They often spent time standing around and drinking water together. Jake's brother Logan would always make him come home early during all his visits. He also had multiple cows who would herd around him when Jake visited.
Jake had the ears and sniffer that could tell the difference between the Lemonheads candy bag or the carrot peeler. Either one, he would come running as if he was sliding into home plate for the win. Jake was vocal all the way to the end. As most of our neighbors could hear his howling along with his sisters barking. He enjoyed his pamper days with his girl, Mel at Shear Delight on a monthly basis. Jake made sure he was always a good boy for Mel. If he wasn't, he knew he wouldn’t get his McDonald's plain cheeseburger on the way home. I think Mel would always vouch for him either way. She loved him dearly as well. Jake’s favorite times is when Grandma would dogsit. He always seemed to get spoiled a little extra on those weekends.
He shared many “dress up” days and bags of Cool Ranch Doritos with Cheyenne throughout the summer days, which it still remains a secret how many bags they actually ate together. Jake spent his afternoons under Logan’s feet to ensure he received as many pizza rolls as possible throughout the years. Most nights, Jake spent his evening with his Mama while she cooked dinner for his family.
Surviving are his Human Parents: Josh & Tiffany Reese. Human Siblings: Logan & Cheyenne Reese. Dog Sibling: Macy Ella Jean & Gabby Dawson Reese. Rodent brother Ginny #2. He was processed in death by Rodents: Ginny #1 & Kelly Severide and 2 backyard bunnies.
Our family was lucky to have spent as much time with him as we did. Thank you for your years of friendship and love, Jake Man. We will miss you.
Instead of your condolences today, we ask everyone to give their dog(s) an extra treat today. Even the ones you are upset with today because they ate your shoes.
