Jacob's obituary

Jacob Byron Fremont passed away suddenly at the age of 53 on April 18th, 2025 at his home in Queen Creek, Arizona.

He was born in Fallbrook, CA on March 4th, 1972 and was raised in California for the majority of his childhood. He later moved to Arizona, where he graduated from Amphitheater High School in Tucson in 1990.

His love for the ocean drew him into the Navy, where he was an accomplished deep sea diver, serving his country with pride and tenacity. He served aboard the USS Prairie on the ship's last deployment before decommission, traveling to Southeast Asia, where he met his future wife and the mother of his daughters in Bahrain. They later divorced, but remained close friends throughout their lives.

His love for animals led him to work for Science Applications International Corporation, where he trained dolphins and other marine mammals for the US Navy. He later moved to Montana, where he developed a love for the mountains, and encouraged his daughters’ love of horses by adopting a horse named Daisy. He had many interests including cooking, traveling, swimming and snorkeling. He was happiest while visiting the beach or near the ocean.

He was a loving father, son and brother, who lived his life to fullest, allowing his playful spirit to shine as he made each day an adventure for his daughters. He was made to be a father, supporting his children in ways they didn’t know they needed, creating lifelong memories and making each day count. He celebrated their smallest accomplishments, and encouraged their independence, creativity and individuality, while giving them the confidence to pursue their dreams.

He relocated to Queen Creek, Arizona, in 2010, where he worked in restaurant management, and utilized his exceptional gift for connecting with others. He continued to share his love of the outdoors with his daughters, taking them horseback riding in the Superstition Mountains, visiting Slide Rock State Park in Sedona, going cliff jumping and boating at Canyon Lake, and exploring all that Arizona had to offer. He lived there for the remainder of his life, spending quality time with family, friends, and his beloved dog, Gini.

Jacob is survived by his daughters Ranie and Athena Fremont, bonus daughter Summer Hansen, mother Donna (Lee) Brandhagen, father Kenneth (Susan) Fremont, brother Matthew (Nicole) Fremont, nephews Trevor and Kyle Fremont, aunts Jeanne (Gil) Lucero, Connie French, and Deborah (Art) Miller, cousins Jody Ferraro, Summer Angus, Chaz Kearney, Josh and Cody Miller, and close friends April and Denny Hansen, as well as many friends who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Louis “Byron” Fremont and Violet Fremont Hove, maternal grandparents Ross and Barbara Thurston and cousin Tracy Lucero Pacini. He had a remarkable impact on all those who knew him, bringing unconditional love, laughter and unwavering support to each relationship, which will be his legacy.

There will be a celebration of Jacob’s life on May 17, 2025 in Tucson, Arizona.
