Jack's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jackie "Jack" Barker, who was born on October 18, 1942, and left us on October 23, 2023. Jack was a quiet, reliable and consistent man, who was loved by those around him. He was known for his love of Westerns and his steady, committed presence that was on full display during his 27 years of working at Tracker Marine. Here, he helped open the factory and worked on his hands and knees cutting boat patterns out of rolls of aluminum.
Jack was a man who knew how to enjoy the simpler pleasures in life. He spent countless hours fishing at Osage Bluff, Truman & Tunnel Dam, and feeding squirrels at Nelson Lake. His favorite local spots included the I-44 Speedway and Elm Street Eatery, where he would often enjoy breakfast. He was a faithful member of Lebanon First Assembly of God since 1993, and had made a profession of faith in Christ.
Jack is survived by his step-daughter, Sara Stephens (Dan), his daughters, Dana Ripley (Kelly) and Denise Spradling, and his son, Darrell Barker (Annie). His sister, Diana Lyman (Gary), and his ex-wife/caregiver Lori also survive Jack. Jack was predeceased by his son, Jerry Barker, his parents, Albert (Jack) Barker and Meta Bowen-Barker, his aunt, Goldie Bales and his uncle Owen Bales. His loss is also felt deeply by his daughter-in-law, Alisha Barker, and a host of grandchildren, family & friends.
We remember Jack not only for the key roles he played in our lives as a father, brother, and friend, but also for the quiet strength and genuine kindness that he extended to others throughout his life. His memory will live on in our hearts, and he will be deeply missed.
