Jacki's obituary

Jacki Lynn Hisoire (Strauss), born on December 31, 1957, in Escondido, California, passed away unexpectedly on May 22, 2025, in San Francisco, California. Her sudden departure has left a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Jacki was a woman of unwavering devotion—first and foremost to her family. She was a hardworking and devoted mother whose love knew no bounds. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her home as she dedicated many years of her life to nursing, offering care and compassion to countless individuals throughout her career. Her ability to comfort others, whether through her professional work or personal relationships, was a defining part of who she was.

She is survived by her beloved husband Ronnie Hisoire, whom she often referred to as "Hitch".  Their bond was one of deep gratitude and enduring love. Jacki also leaves behind her father Robert Strauss; her children Kris Himbarger, Katrina Gutierrez, Karisha Wilkins, and Kelsey Gomez; and her sister Leanne Sotile as well as her brother Todd Strauss. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Destiny, Gino, Noah, Jr., Liyah, Lillianna, Julianna, Ernesto, Kristian, Elijah, Daniel, Robert, Diego, Kara, Jack, her nephews Jason, Jake, and her niece, Tia.

Jacki was predeceased by her daughter Kara Lopez; her mother Carol Ekburg; and her granddaughter Alicia Himbarger. Her beloved cats, Harley and Raider and her dog, Yankee, whom all brought joy to her life.

A woman of deep faith, Jacki believed wholeheartedly in God and accepted the Lord as her Savior. She encouraged those around her—especially her children—to seek strength through faith and to find solace in the church. Her spiritual guidance was a cornerstone of the values she instilled in those closest to her.

To those who knew Jacki best, she was more than just a mother or grandmother—she was everyone’s best friend. She had an extraordinary gift for making each child and grandchild feel like they were uniquely special to her. Her support was unconditional; she offered trust without judgment and love without limits. Her laughter filled rooms with warmth and joy; it is a sound that will echo forever in the memories of those fortunate enough to hear it.

Jacki fought Metetastic Breast Cancer over the past several years. She never complained or let Cancer define who she was. She was strong, resilient and Cancer did not win in the end, as it was not the cause for her departure from Earth.

Jacki  was a die hard Raiders football fan even though her kids are all Chargers fans. She never missed the opportunity to cheer on and support her team while making sure to either have her Raiders Jersey on or cuddling up with one of her Raiders blankets during the games.

She also loved to volunteer at the the voting polls, attend and participate in the local parades, and donate to Charites such as Radys Children's Hospital and The wounded Warrior Project. She always tried to give back to her community.

Her favorite place to be was Oceanside Beach in Oceanside, Ca.  Specifically the Pier where we always made sure to grab a "Pier Pickle".  Mom loved thrift store shopping and always had to have perfectly white socks. Even as adults she would wash our laundry and always  made our clothes smell so good!

She always made the long trips to see her family. Recently she decided to ride her Harley all the way from Crescent City, Ca to San Diego, Ca to visit with her family. Nothing would stop her from visiting her kids, grand children, or her father.

Jacki's passing has deeply shaken the family she so fiercely loved. Yet even in grief, they draw strength from the example she set—a life lived with loyalty, humor, compassion, and unshakable faith. The lessons she taught through both word and action will continue to guide them forward.

May Jacki Lynn Hisoire’s memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were touched by her presence. Her legacy lives on in every heart she held dear.
