Jack's obituary

Jack Anthony Patterson Jr. was born on May 13,1966 in Chicago IL to the late Jack Sr. and Dorothy Patterson. Two years later the proud family welcomed his younger sister, Jacqueline (Jacqui).

Growing up, Jack who was affectionately known as 'Tony' to his family, was a brilliant mind. He had an infectious smile. And who could forget his signature laugh?

Upon graduation from high school, Jack attended the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or MIT as it is more commonly known. He eventually settled in his new life in MA. Being the true Jamaican descendant that he was, he found himself working several jobs. One of these jobs was with the banking/investment firm, Brown Brothers Harriman. One fateful evening, while attending the company’s annual picnic, Jack met his soulmate Tara. They spent the entire evening together with friends. They enjoyed each others company so much they found a way to continue to spend time after the picnic was over. After several emails back and forth, he finally asked her to lunch. They were inseparable ever since.

A short while later they married and brought daughter Jayda to that union. Two years later they welcomed Jayda’s sister, Kai. And their brother Taj came along one year thereafter.

Jack was always ambitious and hard working, a trait he certainly passed on to his children. In his desire to provide a better life for his family, In the year 2000 he moved the family to Atlanta GA. One year later the last of the siblings, Che, was born.

Jack always had a heart for children. He would spend any free time he had with his niece and nephews, friends or neighbors children. He had a very childlike quality that made children want to be around him. Jack had a love and passion for nature and the outdoors. He cherished time spent with his sons cub scout troop camping. Every moment spent with him was an adventure with many stories to tell.

Jack had many talents, including cybersecurity, acting, drawing, cooking, and running. He trained for and ran several marathons and was always in search of the next big race. Jack was an avid movie fan, and looked forward to the Oscars every year. He would be sure to see every movie nominated in preparation. Jack also enjoyed bonding with his sons over Marvel movies while the girls always just tagged along. Another passion was music. The Patterson family’s soundtrack would feature many different genres. Jack made the family a music collection for just about any occasion!. Many times the family would ride through the neighborhood as a favorite song played that was just too good to stop. Above all else Jack's ultimate passion was God. He always had a bible in his back pocket. Jack devoted his life to Christ and raised his children in the way they should go so when they are old they would not depart from it.

Jack leaves behind to remember him with love his wife Tara, children Jayda, Kai, Taj and Che, his sister Jacqui and a host of cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and his church family.
