Jack's obituary

Jack Edward Jones passed away on January 30, 2026, in La Quinta, CA.

Jack was born on June 19, 1932, in Fort Worth, Texas, where he grew up. He later moved to California and spent most of his life in Pine Valley, a place he cherished deeply and affectionately referred to as “the Back Country.” He was a graduate of Mountain Empire High School, as were all of his children.

Jack led a fulfilling life distinguished by service and community involvement. He proudly served as a Marine in the Korean War, worked as a law enforcement officer in El Cajon ( badge number #12), and was a successful businessman, owning and operating the Hilltop 76 gas station in Guatay. He spent much of his professional career as a realtor with Glen D. Mitchel Realtors.

He was a proud member of the Masons for over 70 years, having joined in 1954. Jack was also very active in local horse clubs alongside his late wife, Donna Jones, and greatly enjoyed poker rides and time spent with friends. Jack loved deep sea fishing and always wished for one more excursion.

After retiring from real estate, Jack enjoyed traveling with his life partner of 27 years, Wilda Bahr. He especially loved their dog trial trips to Texas, and their vacations together to Maine. A true social butterfly, Jack loved talking with everyone he met and was well known for his great stories, humor, and friendly personality.

Jack is survived by his life partner, Wilda Bahr; his sister, Dorothy (Richard) Hoyler; his children, Pam Stoneking, Ray (Karyn) Jones, Glen (Debbie) Ledgerwood, Jackie Jones, and Debbie Hulslander; his 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly.

The family would like to acknowledge Masonic Senior Outreach Services for their compassionate assistance during Jack’s final years.

Jack will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. We find peace in God’s promise that death is not the end, and we trust that Jack has been welcomed home and now rests in eternal peace with our Heavenly Father.
