Jacie passed away on April 29th, 2023 surrounded by an abundance of love after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, Jacie graduated from Wooster High School and the University of Nevada. In August of 2012, Jacie met Karrie Melero during the Reno Pride Festival. They were married on July 3rd, 2014 in South Lake Tahoe and made their home in Homewood, CA along with their Yorkie Bubby and Westie Stella. Jacie ventured into the field of medical cannabis in 2013 and studied the healing and preventative benefits of CBD extensively. In 2020, Jacie was hired by Embarc Tahoe as a store manager and assisted with the opening of the first Embarc cannabis storefront in South Lake Tahoe. She grew with the company to the position of General Manager with an open door of growth opportunities ahead for her. It was her dream career come true. Jacie was an accomplished and charismatic DJ. She performed locally at special parties and events along with her DJ team of friends. Her music was magical and to watch her spin, was uplifting and enlightening. She was a force of positivity and we know she will be a shining light spinning the DJ booth in the stars. Jacie lived an amazingly full life and was truly one of a kind. She taught us how to show up for life and live it to the fullest and she taught us how to keep laughing even in the most terrible circumstances. She manifested her dreams and demonstrated kindness, compassion, and genuine love. Karrie would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Tahoe Forest Hospital and Tahoe Forest Cancer Center with a special thank you to Dr. Thomas Semrad and Jacie’s care team; all who made her feel like the VIP she was. The care and comfort of this hospital is unmatched. To quote the always witty and hilarious Jacie in her final days, “I give it a 10 out of 10. I’ll put it on my exit survey.” Jacie is survived by her loving wife, Karrie Melero, her best friend and soulmate of 43 years Barbara (Babsy) Kingsley, her stepsons Matthew and Zachery Melero, daughter-in-law Sydney Stricklind, son-in-law Mark Sammut, her “Jacie’s Angels” team: Katie Isaia Conway, Missy Schueller, Jenny North Peterson, Danny Starks, Dana Lipski, her dear friend and boss Terri Gilles, her Embarc family, and over 750 dedicated and supportive friends and family who adored her. As per Jacie’s request, there will be a DJ music party in her honor which will be held on a beach in Santa Cruz, CA TBA at a later date. She wanted her loved ones to celebrate her with music, dancing, and love.
