Stephen's obituary
Stephen "Aba" Orme, 84, of Napa, CA, passed away on October 03, 2025 after a short yet punishing battle with stomach cancer.
Stephen was born on January 12, 1941 to John Francis Orme and Louise Martin Brown in Providence, Rhode Island. After graduating from Lowell High School in 1959, he went on to gain a BS in Accounting in San Francisco .
In 1962, he met Sandra Lee James, and they wed in 1963, going on to have two sons, John and Patrick. Granddaughter Nicole brought him incredible joy. Stephen spent many years of his career in the oil and gas industry, often travelling abroad. He brought his family with him to live in Tripoli, Libya for about 5 years and later lived a couple of years in Bogota, Colombia - a place he often returned to. It was in Colombia that he met his loving daughter-in-law, Amanda Sanchez, for whom his son John is forever grateful. Amanda's family grew very close to Stephen and family, welcoming them as one of their own.
Stephen had a wonderful sense of humor, a deep loyalty and commitment to provide the best for his family, an unparalleled depth of empathy - he could connect with persons from anywhere, listening and understanding their life stories.
Stephen enjoyed his last 20 plus years in his home along the Napa river, next door to his sisters Kathleen and Gail. Many friends would join him during the Swimettes "exercise" sessions and the longstanding Friday coffee in Napa. He had incredible knowledge of the world he gained from his travels, personal interactions, and the voluminous books he read.
Stephen was predeceased by his siblings Patricia and Danny. He is survived by his two sisters, Kathleen and Gail, as well as his brother Gerry.
