J. D.'s obituary
J.D. was born in Hillsboro, Texas on January 16, 1943. He graduated from Peabody High School and continued on to serve in the United States Navy, where he was awarded a letter of commendation for outstanding performance of duty during an attack on his ship in the Gulf of Tonkin Incident in 1964. J.D. later went on to receive a degree in Electronics from James Connally Technical Institute, where he was recognized by the governor of Texas as an outstanding graduate.
He met his first wife, Jimmie Ruth Duncan in 1963 in Hillsboro, TX. They married and went on to have two children, Gia Ruchael Rodriguez and Javian Divaro Duncan. Jimmie passed away in 1984.
J.D. was married to Jossalyn La’Net Smith in 1994; from that union came Jeremy Jerod Duncan.
He worked as an Electrical Engineer for Johnson Space Center for over 40 years, providing mission critical support for the Shuttle Program.
While his passion was technology, he was a dedicated and loving husband and father. Friends and family will forever remember him as a ‘techie’, always interested in the latest gadget and innovation…especially if related to his motorcycle, improved his golf swing, resulted in crafting the perfect cup of coffee or made for a better way to explore the world.
J.D. and Jossalyn were devoted members of Calvary Houston, where J.D. served in the AV ministry. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him.
.
He is survived by his wife, Jossalyn Duncan, his children, Gia Rodriguez, Javian Duncan, and Jeremy Duncan, his daughter-in-law, Angela Duncan, his grandchildren, Ryan Duncan and Nyah Duncan, one sister; Geraldene Walker (Robert Walker), two brothers; Calvin Duncan, Joseph Duncan (Camille Duncan), family in-laws; Allean Brooks, Dwayne & Sandra Smith, Dorothy Mc Washington, and a host of family and friends who love him dearly.
J.D. is preceded in death by his first wife; Jimmie Ruth Duncan, J.D. Duncan Sr. (Father), Mabel Duncan (Mother), Timothy McWashington (Brother-in-law), Charlene Duncan (Sister-in-law).
His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with as well as those he has touched but never met.
